I've just started playing with it, but so far so good. Great price at under $100 for an Indie license.
Its just animation.
Yes, it is animation and rigging software.
Rigging too?
Got links about rigging? Any advantages in rigging or just the old bone structure?
Depends on the program you export to - you can create a variety of rigs which mean your character can wobble its hips and the feet remain static on the ground / you can attach objects so when you move a character's hands, the object goes along too etc
You can still have a career as a rigger, predesigned rigs are great but they won't solve all the animation challenges out there.
But rigging and animating is in built feature in the major 3D apps anyway.
Also, the animation I saw was FK? I did not see IK animation with this one.

~ its one of those Autodesk apps thats not available for rent ~]
Student licence. The irony is however you need a super powerful PC to handle it.
Sign up for an evening class somewhere and you get Motionbuilder for 3 years..
MotionBuilder Free Download | Free Student Version for Academics
Yeah, but I don't envision myself ever spending 4k on Motionbuilder after learning how to use it.
It's rigging, too. I have not tried rigging with it yet. And I am not an animator by trade, but I want to get into it so that I can increase my freelancing opportunities.
It's true that Maya, Max, Cinema4D, etc., have exceptional rigging/animation features, but Motionbuilder is the only app that really focuses on the FBX animation workflow (that I know of), and its one of those Autodesk apps thats not available for rent.
I'm a modeler but I though the difference between the character in the air (all limbs moving to place) vs him / it holding the skateboard showed both FK?IK in practice.
Have you tried the Raf Anzovin Setup machine? may be worth having a look at his website to see his work as you are in the right part of the world to be looking at producing TV and Web type stuff.
I think it costs $100 per seat.
~ I know you are a modeler Chaos
I know plenty of DP users here from that techie forum anyhow.
What's your background? What do you do - modelling / animation / rigging / SFX?
I am a doctoral candidate with the main focus on teaching.
Cool, what subject? Is it gaming focused?
Nah, its multimedia animations in teaching. A very neat subject considering my background.
How about you? Are you in the gaming industry?
No but several of my ex students are - or in the animation industry. I'm a generalist now however I did write a game once which made a small amount of profit. I've been exploring 2D game engines using GameSalad recently, my character animation skills are poor but I like to use Flash and a few other programmes for motion graphics.
