So, almost 4 years after I bought my copy of Skyrim, I finally have a computer capable of playing it! I made it to Whiterun and got my first Dragon Shout. Unfortunately, the interface on Skyrim really sucks donkey balls, and makes it difficult for a magic caster like myself to use more than one spell at a time. To my horror, both "shouts" and "casting magic" uses the same Z key, so when I try to use my charm spell, Voice of the Emperor, on a Merchant, I end up roaring a Shout and destroying his shop.
I've tried everything. Taking my shout off the favorites list, "unequipping" it, but no luck. In Oblivion I could hot key my main spells, quickly switch from one to another in battle, or light up a cave, then ready my destruction spell, but I am just stupid and awful with this interface. I've googled myself silly, and can't find the (very simple, I'm sure) answer to this question. My hope is that some of the gamers here have played Skyrim long enough or recently enough that they can give me the illusive clue to turning these shouts off when I don't want to use them.
Lydia already hates me. *sigh*
