Total War: Warhammer!!!

Came in here hoping for 40k, got left with the junk side of warhammer...

I know the style of gameplay is completely different but 40K already has a video game franchise dedicated to it, it's called Dawn of War.

That being said, if Creative Assembly wanted to make a non-historical fantasy or sci-fi game, I would have preferred like Total War: Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones or something like that.

I never really got into Total War.
I did enjoy the original Dawn of War games. I didn't really like the DOW II versions...it just lost that feel.
I play DOW Soulstorm once every six months or so, it still plays well, love the music and voice and graphics and missions. So much juice went into RTS games in their heyday...of course that's how mobas in their heyday.

The funny thing is that there are already mods (and damn good ones, at that) devoted to pretty much all of these franchises.

"Official" CA versions would undoubtedly be pretty, but they'd likely skimp on the lore and gameplay mechanics.

I started with Total War, but the franchise honestly comes off as being kind of quaint once you've moved on to any of Paradox's more hardcore strategy titles.

What would be really awesome, would be if someone could release a game with Total War style battles, but Crusader Kings 2 or Europa Universalis IV style strategic play.

I'm pretty sure that my social life wouldn't survive such a thing, come to think of it.

Ive played and enjoyed both. Dawn of War Soulstorm and Dark Crusade is good and I still play Total War Rome 1 (Rome 2 sucks) every now and then- Shogun 2 Total War was pretty nice too.
