Sooo... Apparently, the DA3 game I'm fifty hours into DOESN'T have the backstory I deliberately created for it.

I just checked, and the Hero of Ferelden was a Dhalish Elf, and died killing the dragon (he was a human noble in my game, and lived), and the Champion of Kirkwall was female (she was a he).

Ummm... Wtf? It took me like 45 minutes to make my tapestry, and I specifically told the game to select it when I created my character. It just didn't take, apparently?

Anyone have an issue like this? Is there anyway to change it?

Is there a way to make sure, without having to wait around until you get a codex entry you're capable of checking?

I'm on the keep right now, and my tapestry is just like I left it.

That's clearly not the issue.

Are you using the same Origin account that is associated with your previous games and the Keep in DA:I?

Did you import that save into DA:I? That is probably what happened. If you forgot to do that, you're out of luck. The default background was applied and there is nothing you can do except start over.

That's kind of the issue. I played the first two games on my PC. Unless I upgrade, that's really not an option on Inquisition, so I'm playing it on XboxOne instead.

Still though, I used the keep to manually set my tapestry to how it should be. After I did so, it did show me two different world states available when I started my game.

I chose the one with the most recent date on it (they should really let you label the damn things), assuming it was the one I had just made in the keep.

I guess I was mistaken?

I don't think it can change itself, or anything.

Yeah, for the Keep and Inquisition to communicate you need to have the same Origin account with each. I moved over from the 360 to the PS4 with no problems. It won't change mid-game, you just probably didn't notice it until now.

The only solution is to make sure the Origin accounts on the Keep and the one tied to Inquisition are the same, look at the time code of the import on the Keep, and start a new game and when it gets to the point of importing a world state make sure the time codes match up. That is the best way to ensure accuracy. A quick way to check to see if it worked is to talk to Varric the first chance you get in Haven, and ask him about Hawke.

As far as I know, I do have the same account on each. I'll have to double check though.

And, yea... Varric was how I eventually found out. I spent so much time running around in Ferelden's first area that I never thought to talk to him.

When I finally did, and brought up Hawke, he started talking about Carver.

I was like... "Wut? Oh... Wait... HELL NO! ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?!?" :lamo

Yeah, you somehow got the default background. With a Dalish elf Hero and a female mage Hawke. You can either live with it, though Hawke is a MAJOR part of the story, or you can start over.

Yea... I'm leaning towards "start over."

I'll probably be taking a bit of a break while I try to get my motivation back, however.

Frankly, it's kind of weird that they'd set that as the "default" background story anyway.

If you're going to go for a male Hero of Ferelden, at least give him the "God baby," followed by "mysteriously disappeared into the portal with Morrigan," storyline. It's more interesting than "he died, the end."

Seems like just another excuse for BW to take the lazy way out and never have to follow up on the more interesting option they themselves created.

Female Hawke is also kind of weird, considering the fact that the character was shown as being male in literally ALL of the promotional material for the game. Hawke is male on the friggin' box, for God's sakes.

Can't really call it lazy when they spend a significant amount of time developing the Keep.

Also, it's kind of interesting that they made the "default" background a bit more diverse, instead of just making the same boring cookie cutter male human.

Also, Hawke is so obviously female. The VO is just way better. :2razz:

Eh. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I'm getting the definite impression that we're probably not going to be seeing the Hero of Ferelden again, regardless of what we chose in the first game.

There might be a "God baby" appearance in there somewhere, but I doubt it'll be much more than a cameo, and not a particularly important one at that.

It'll be like Wrex from ME1 all over again.

I'm not really attached to the idea one way or another. The art on the game box pretty clearly was a human male mage, however.

Though... Yea, I guess the idea of Isabella doing "girl-girl" with a female Hawke really isn't the most terrible thing in the world either.

I beat the game and had the God baby in Origins, well Morrigan had it with Alistar as the father, lol. But yeah, not quite. You'll see.

Yeah, a male Hawke seems so weird to me, lol. And she was my first romance in that game, ahh.
