What Games Are You Playing?

My brothers and I wound up pooling our money together to buy an Xbox One after Christmas. So far, we've got Assassin's Creed: Unity, Shadow of Mordor, and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I've only played DA myself.

It's freaking HUGE!

The first area alone easily rivals Skyrim's main valley. I've been playing for days, and I've only managed to map a little more than half of it.

My only complaint so far is that the story seems a bit derivative (Head of state killed by a shadowy evil organization, and gates to Hell opening up everywhere that only you can close? Umm... Oblivion, anyone? :screwy ).

The intro was also a bit more "gamey" and melodramatic than I'd prefer. DA is supposed to feel dark and serious, like an interactive novel, or episode of Game of Thrones. This felt more like something out of a cheesy fantasy B-movie.

It's still pretty early in the game though, so I guess we'll see where it goes from here.

Either way regardless, I'm having plenty of fun playing. Lol

I've put about 100 hours into the game. It's freaking amazing. There's so much to do, and the characters and story are just so well put together. Not my favorite Bioware game,ME3 is still better, IMO, but it's up there.

I've been playing DAI since Christmas...24 hours into the game...and yeah, it is the biggest game I've ever played. Soooo much to do!! And I haven't even touched crafting yet.

There is one point where you have a choice of getting the mages on your side or the templars. If you choose one, you cannot access the other. I chose the mages. That was one of the most bizarre scenarios I've ever seen. It was awesome.

That quest was simply amazing.

Still playing Pinball Arcade, in lieu of buying a real machine!

Starship Troopers is next, followed by Adams Family in Feb.

Me jealous. :(

I just played Gone Home. So I'll be laying here crying for the next few hours.

Just started playing This War of Mine- addictive but its pissing me off because I dont know what the hell Im doing!

Eh? Anything that works on 32 bit Windows works on 64 bit Windows. The only stuff that does not work is 16 bit and 8 bit programs, and if you are still running those...

I'm giving my old ASUS P5Q motherboard and Q9400 Quad Core Processor, to a friend just as soon as he can buy a computer case, power supply, hard drive, graphics card, and operating system. He wants me to set up a dual/triple/quadruple boot so he can play the old games as well as the new. He wants Windows 95, 98, XP, and Windows 8 installed. I think he is an idiot for even wanting to do that. I long ago gave up on those old games. I do possess a copy of Windows XP Pro 64 bit, which I'm willing to give him just to dual boot with that and Win 8, and even then he will be setting up his PC for viruses if he goes on line with XP, since XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, but try and tell him, that. He needs to take all those old game cd's and use them for skeet shooting.

Just finished Tales From the Borderlands and it is hilarious! Its supposed to take place after the events of Borderlands 2 and since I have played all 3 games straight this year its just feeding into my addiction of it. First episode features Zer0 (my fav from BL2) and a certain character who may or may not be back- all I gotta say is that its awesome and ties in to the previous games very well. The only minor drawback is that the story will make more sense if youve played the previous Borderlands games. 9/10

I have played all the Borderlands games, but that one. Yeah, the game is pretty funny, but even with today's advanced graphics, the game still comes off as a bit cartoonish looking.

I think that was intentional. My only peeve about the tell tale games is that its so short, only around 3 hours and then youre done. I think Im going to wait till the whole thing is completed before I get anymore chapters so I can binge play it.

So I take it that's a DLC? I have played Borderlands 1 and 2 and the Borderlands Prequel, but since I buillt my new PC, I have only installed Darksiders and Dragon Age Inquisition.

Right now, I'm having trouble with both games locking up at the screen. I have tested the CPU under stress as well as the memory, and they pass in flying colors. I think my power supply is the culprit. I am using my old Thermaltake 850 Watt, which is not set up to handle the heavier load that the 4th Gen processors require. I am looking toward replacing it. I wish I had done that before. Now, if that doesn't fix it, I'm going to be really mystified. I have run a stress test on my graphics card, and it never gets through the whole test before it locks up. Fortunately, I do have a back up card that I can put in there, but it hardly draws any current so I can't see that being a good test.

It's unlikely that your CPU is the problem since Intel's 4th gen CPU's have very low power requirements. (are you, in fact, using Intel?)

Your problem could be your GPU...especially if it's overclocked. What graphics card are you using? A 850W PS could be on the low end depending on what other hardware you have in your case...and it being "old" could be a problem as well. A more likely problem would be excessive heat.

Tell Tale games are really just choose your own adventure cinematics, its like watching a movie but you get to choose how the plot goes, its very different from the other BL games because its not a first person shooter.

Wow, it must be your graphics card thats the problem. I was able to run BL1 and BL2 on my old rig when it still had XP as the OS (The pre sequel only runs on Win7 and later I think).

Nothing is overclocked. I never do that. My CPU is an Intel 4670 Core I5 at 3.5 Ghz and Turbo Boost to 3.9 Ghz. I have ruled out the CPU and memory. It could be either the PSU or GPU, or both, but I didn't have any problems running either on the old ASUS P5Q motherboard with Q9400 Intel processor, but maybe it didn't draw as much current as the new games are causing because of their intense graphics.

Check out this site if you want to know about power supplies. I only wish I had seen it 6 years ago, if it even existed back then.

Power | Hardware Secrets

I saw a good test on a Thermaltake, and it failed the test. The site employs electronic techs, who disassemble each manufacturer's power supply and check out the components. Then they reassemble the PSU's and subject them to load tests, at 20%, 40%, 60% 80%, and 100%. The 750 watt Thermaltake they tested couldn't get to its maximum wattage and blew a power transistor. They had the manufacturer send them another Thermaltake, thinking it was just a bad unit, and it too, blew the same component and never got to 750. This same power supply suffered from heavy ripple (noise) on the DC output. I wish I had known that about Thermaltake, but heck, I got almost 6 years of use out of it.

This site even shot down some Corsair and Rosewill PSU's.

The games shouldn't cause the kind of problems you are having.

If you aren't overclocking your graphics card, then I think your problem is the PSU or heat. You said you built your computer...is everything good with your CPU? Paste, fan, good heat sink connection? Running a utility that measures the heat in your system can show any problems in that regard. Also, good airflow inside your case is important and don't forget about your RAM...that needs to stay cool, as well.

I play TF2 from time to time. The busier I am, the less I play.

Just bought a new 1000 watt PSU and new graphics card, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti. I played Dragon Age Inquistion for 4 straight hours in between eating dinner and bathroom breaks. Not one problem so far. I would re-install the old board, but I hate having screen lockups and BSOD's, since they are detrimental to the health of my hard drive. I should have opted to replace the graphics card and PSU initially, but I wanted to save some money on the build. You see where that one got me.

Now, I will say that the old GTX 660 had one fan blowing over a section of heat pipes and heat sink, but there was no way to vent the card's GPU, other than out the back, since it was completely enclosed. The GTX 750 Ti has twin fans blowing across the heat sink, and the assembly is open at the top as well as the back, affording much better ventilation. Now, this will create the collection of dust bunnies, but that's what they make canned air for. In the past while playing with the 660, I couldn't help but notice the extreme heat being exhausted out the back of the card, since the heat had nowhere to go but out the back. Tonight, I didn't feel that extreme heat from this card. Both cards were made by EVGA, but it is obvious EVGA has redesigned the card for the better.

I used to have that problem, too when I worked and had to bring the work home with me. Now, I'm retired and can use the computer for what I want to do.

850W is more than enough unless you're doing something like a GTX Titan or SLI/Crossfire.

I have two GTX 970s running on a 650w PSU. Nvidia's latest generation is ridiculous.

As I said...it depends on the other hardware in the system.

How many fans...water cooling for the CPU, GPU(s), etc...hard drives...sound cards...fan controller...and so on.

I miss playing Ultima Online. I just don't have the time to play anymore. I also miss playing Call of Duty MW3. I might try to find an old copy of Age of Empires and play that again while passing time on flights to here and there. Playing via Steam just doesn't work out reliably in many countries.

I used to play UO years and years ago, when it first came out in the '90's. Played for about three years. Sometimes I think of going in again, it's only been about 14 years since I played it. I wonder if they still have my accounts saved? LOL.

Just started metal gear solid five. I really enjoyed four, but this one is a tactical.sneaker where all the missions are in the ****ing DAYTIME. Not easy. Asshole difficult is more like it.

But hey, its a challenge!
