What would you pay for this if you were going to buy it from a friend? Excellent condition.
Gen 2 16 gig...I seriously would probably only pay 100-150. Id tell them no haggling...split the difference and pay 125 (if you REALLy want it).
What were you planning on using it for?

50 bucks tops. The iPad 2 is not going to get updated much more, and the latest iOS 8 makes it crawl.

I've looked online and there isn't a single one going for $50.
Because people are idiots and giving a premium for the label. The iPad 2 is ancient tech and is frankly not worth anything. It will last maybe a year before apps wont work because it will require iOS 8+ and iOS 8 runs like a **** on it.

Correct. I did a check. On ebay, under "completed auctions" which are auctions where things have been sold, the average price for an excellent condition iPad 2 is between $150 and $200, with most in the upper range. I would add a few "extras", that I would get cheap which would increase the price. I recently bought a few tablets, and then sold them for a profit by doing just that.
My understanding is that when you buy an iPad, you get the tablet and a power supply and that's it.
That's true. However, if you add a screen protector a case, and a stylis, you could increase your selling price by as much as 10%-20%.
I'm still trying to decide what the benefit to me is. I've been playing with my gf's which she is planning to sell. I've gone on facebook and played a game on it. I tend toward my smartphone and PC.

The benefits are minimal with an iPad (my son has one).
Games, video, FB is about it.
I would take a laptop any day over a tablet.
I wonder if tablets won't everntually die out.
Same here. I have a Toshiba Excite tablet that I paid $400 for a couple of years ago that is a paperweight. Other than for Netflix, it's pretty much useless to me, but I couldn't sell it for more than $50.
That's all well and good, but just because other people are idiots, that doesn't mean YOU have to be an idiot. The market determines price, not your opinion.
I have a zagg keyboard/cover and use mine for taking notes at conferences and meetings. I also have a pretty extensive music library which is why I bought the 64 gig version and like to download a few movies when I travel. 16 gigs wont give you much space for that. I have computers at my different offices and a travel laptop...so the long and short of it is...not much. What would you use it for?
Wait...is it your girlfirends iPad you are thinking about buying? That changes everything!I'm still trying to decide what the benefit to me is. I've been playing with my gf's which she is planning to sell. I've gone on facebook and played a game on it. I tend toward my smartphone and PC.
