Never thought that something like hair can be that impressive.

I would love to work with that myself and not just wait to see it in games.

It is unfortunate that the cheapest you can get 3DMax for is probably at arround 1500 $.

But the potential for something like this goes beyond simple pelts and hairs, my first thought was to use it in landscaping for grass and other flora, which I believe is somewhat more important than character detail, which can already be made pritty neatly.
 
Pretty neat. I've only played around with dynamic hair in Blender, but it does a pretty good job. They've come a long way with Cycles.
