Another trailer was released by the modding team:

With each new trailer the mod seems to be getting closer and closer to finaly being finished and it is also becoming more and more beautifull with each trailer.

I would love to have the modeling and texturing abilities that those people have so I could create or work on a project as vast and amazing like this myself.

Currently I ma more excited about this mod than I am about games that are currently being developed.

Am I understanding this correctly? This mod basically adds Morrowind to Skyrim? WOW!!!

No I don't believe it adds Morrowind to Skyrim, its an entire recreation of the Morrowind game in its entirety

It's a stand alone game?

Well, it changes Skyrim to be Morrowind - the game, not the country.

But it doesnt just copy Morrowind as it was 10 years ago and simply gives it better Skyrim graphics.

It completly creates Morrowind new from scratch and adds new features, weapons, arrmours, enemies, creatures, clothes, quests and other.

All that whilest staying true to the original lore of the elders scrolls series.

So in total, this is one of, if not the most ambitious modding project to date.

I just read a little on this and it sounds phenomenal. I assume that this can be installed while preserving the already installed Skyrim and Morrowind in playable condition. From what I read it also requires the Bloodmoon and Tribunal add-ons for Morrowind so if they're reproducing the whole thing that's a truly remarkable undertaking.

A mod esseantialy is additional content made by modders. And since a modder cant demand any money for his mod he can only release it for free.

As suggested by the description "additional content" it merely adds these new features into the game while not removing the already existing game data.

Meaning that when the mod is removed, the game should be just as it was before.

Hmm...from what I was reading this mod seems to require both Skyrim and Morrowind files. I'd like to preserve the games I've got intact. I suppose that I could just create a new folder and install the required base games there then install the mod to that folder too.

I highly doubt that. I am pritty sure that one will only need skyrim.

You wont be needing any folders.

Have you ever used a workshop mod or installed a mod?

I have installed mods for Fallout 3 and understand the basics of the process but what I'm reading here leads me to believe that Skywind is a bit different.

That does raise some issues though.

Don't get me wrong. I love the idea. However, when you're dealing with a mod anywhere near that large and complex, there are bound to be at least some stability issues.

I've played around a bit with different Skyrim mods myself. I can tell you from personal experience that it is trivially easy to completely ruin your game (or your saves, at the very least) if you overdo it, or try to run too many at the same time.

Broken scripts repeating themselves endlessly can cause data bloat which makes your save game files to swell in size exponentially over an extended time scale, slowing load times to a crawl and basically making the game unplayable. Likewise, mispaced game IDs and data markers in a carelessly made mod can cause the game to crash quite often, especially if it is conflicting with something else.

These aren't problems that are easy to fix either, even after you have deleted the mods. They can often leave permanent data traces in your save files which continue to wreak havoc long after they've been removed.

Well this is mainly an issue if you chose to simply download and combine the mods yourself.

The issue doesnt turn up hardly at all when dowload the mods open them with a pack file manager and create one single big overhoul mod out of them.

One of the big disadvantages of skyrim mods is that there are so view great overhoul mods.

I really should figure out how to do that.

I dont think it would be that hard to do. You simply combine all the mods you like into one big one.

The reason why nobody does that is because you need the approval of a modder to use his mods and therefor you have to ask everyone, which could easily be up to 200 people, which makes really tiresome work.

There is no such thing as a law that prevents you from using other peoples work when they are mainly used for mods (no copyrights for mods) but it is somewhat a unspoken code of honor.

True, but it also requires digging into the data files of the mods themselves (often times with a specially made editor program) and mixing and matching content while looking out for potential conflicts, does it not?

I think I tried it once. It looked like something that was going to require a lot of fussy busy work and general tedium (I had well over 100 mods in my game at the time), so I kind of just walked away after a token effort. lol

Well most modern pack manager actualy detect the conflicts for you.

If you can't wait for this mod, there's a really nice graphics overhaul mod for regular Morrowind that's already out:

Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 mod out now | PC Gamer

The graphics are incredible, and it fixes a lot of bugs too. The installer is great, but in certain phases of the installation it will take over your keyboard & mouse and start pointing and clicking on your behalf. Try not to be alarmed by this, it's trustworthy.

Nice. Do you have a link for a good one?

not for skyrim

only for tw games and other

I could ask arround though since I know 2 skyrim modders with some expirience.

Thanks. I'll have to look around and see what I can find myself, but I'd certainly appreciate any potential leads you could provide.
