Basically, somebody wrote a emulator program to take text from the Twitch chat and turn it into input commands for the game (a, b, up, down, left, right, select, start). There are currently 90,000 viewers, so as you might imagine, it is pretty hectic. Accomplishing even the most simple of tasks is amazing, due to the fact that not everybody agrees what the goal should be... The large number of people that are just straight up trolling are making things difficult as well.

This is beautiful in an incredibly stupid and entertaining way. It's like the internet is becoming collectively self-aware through Twitch chat, and it turns out the internet is an idiot.

It's hilarious and awesome at the same time. I mean, it took them 6 hours to cut down a tree, but like 15 mins to defeat Lt. Surge.

Holy ****, that music brings me back.

I think they've spent like 30 hours or something trying to get through the game center. Those spinny tiles are nasty.

Also, it seems that there is an accompanying narrative to what is going on in the game which is fascinating.

Yes. Haha. How is that even possible?

Haha. I was kind of sad that the only way to do it was turning it into vote mode. The ledge was so much more satisfying.

There will be papers written about this. Amazing social experiment here.
