I know some of you must have gotten it.

I've been a big fan of the Call of Duty series, owned every single one since Call of Duty 2.

And while in my opinion Ghosts has some of the best multiplayer maps in the entire series and I do like the new customization, for my personal playing style I am chuffed to bits they created a sharp shooter specific set of weapons.

It's obvious the franchise has run out of ideas.

Sad to see the old girl die such a mediocre death.

What's really crappy about Ghosts though is its campaign.

Granted Call of Duty has always been a shooting gallery with set pieces but this time around the story arc is so unbelievably stupid I roll my eyes everytime a new plot point unfolds.

At one point while doing a mission in Caracas the city floods with water, at which point you make your way onto the roof of a building, which for no reason whatsoever other than to further the plot begins to collapse so you can be swept underwater for the sake of having the set piece.

And often times the level design is so linear and the set pieces so specific to where everyone stands I often times have no idea where the hell I should be or what I should be doing.

I have no flaming idea what the hell is going on or why I should even care.

Once again we're off to kill the living **** out of foreign people and this time we're aiming down our sites at the Spanish and Portuguese speaking peoples of South America and at times it feels the only reason we're all fighting is because the game tells us to.

It baffles me that they did such a relatively good job with the multiplayer this time around, creating some truly unique and clever map designs but make the Campaign so embarrassingly idiotic.

What are your thoughts?

Honestly I rarely if ever play the campaign mode for Call of Duty games. I'm pleased to read that some of the lower scores I've seen are due to the campaign and not the multiplayer.

Who the hell buys COD for the campaign? I play the campaign through once and then spend the rest of my time in multiplayer.

I've beaten most COD campaigns on Veteran, a fun 6 hours most of the time.

Though, I'm going to wait for this game.

I'll say it....I hate multiplayer. There's nothing more frustrating than not being able to play longer than 5 seconds before being whacked by some snot-nosed punk who spends 6 hours a day on the game. To date, I still pull out World at War just for the campaign. Yeah, I tear through it, but dammit I just wanna shoot Nazis and Japs. I want to play longer than 5 seconds at a time. In fact, World at War is (in my opinion) the BEST Call of Duty because it was possible to play the entire campaign with *gasp* a friend sitting next to you. Side by side beats online play hands down.

That being said, I'd LOVE to see a Call of Duty game set in WWI. Not talking trench warfare, but talking all the other non-trench battles. Sure the children will bitch and moan about the archaic weaponry. Hey...that's what they had to work with, and the game's about immersion, isn't it? How about a Vietnam-based CoD? Include the jungles and a whole subterranean level of foxholes. How about a Civil War game? Not big battles, but there were plenty of guerrilla missions that were minor skirmishes.

There's plenty of fresh ways they could go with Call of Duty....but they won't.

I'm with you on Titan Fall, it looks great. As far as COD, naw, my kids enjoy it but I'm a strict PC player, and if you're a PC player you MUST play BF4.. ;)

Tim-

So I got Ghosts the other day ($50 off Ebay), I've given up on the campaign, it's crap, even for a COD game.

I have an idea for a call of duty game. One with time travel. You go back to the revolutionary war with modern weapons. You have to beat a certain amount of enemies before you run out of ammo.

Nazis are still the most universally accepted "bad guys." I'd totally buy into a game where you could go back and slaughter Nazis with modern weapons. I wanna see Panzers v. Abrams. I wanna be able to fly a Warthog over Berlin. Storm the beaches of Normandy right after a pack of SSG's had surgically removed all the machine gun nests and bunkers.

Recently got CoD Ghosts. It was my first experience with the franchise. I enjoyed it!!! On beginner mode anyways.
