No WoW threads?

Me either. I'll ask my kids later.

Since I still work in a government environment, I have more than enough acronyms to keep up with.

Must have something to do with gamers.

I don't even know what that is!

World of Warcraft, aka Warcrack. It's only addictive, lots of side quests, etc. I just figured in a community this size, there'd be bound to be some gamers. :)

There definitely are! :)

Some of us even park our kids at the nearest body of water, turn off trade and general chat, and teach them how to fish. That keeps them entertained for a very long time!

Gotta be careful though. The three year-old was a bit traumatized when my toon was attacked by an alligator, and she didn't know how to do anything about it. :(

Fishing is for bots and drunk players talking to real friends over chat when they can't actually go out.

In fact that's who all farming is for, but includes DPS who are in queue and doesn't include Pandaland farming in your phased patch of land.

What do you think of what's coming in 5.4?

Actually, your comment is untrue. I have several toons going on 600 fishing. I just have TV shows playing while I'm leveling fishing.

I haven't played in awhile but I couldn't imagine 600/600 fishing...

They had to lower the requirements. Less fish cost, less casting time, always catch something - etc.

Well, if you don't follow lore...and I don't...then it's more of the same. Nothing really game-changing like scenarios or pet battles.

I'm in the game for the player interactions. That's what I love. IMO it's ok if the content is the same dance to a different song as long as a group of us are getting together to have a good time for a while.

Actually, your comment is untrue.
My comment was an opinion, it cannot be true or untrue. I hate farming with a burning passion (which is why I buy gold), fishing is farming, therefore I hate fishing. I don't hate people who fish, in fact I need you to fish so that I can buy your cooked goodies in the AH. I just don't want to fish myself....even-though I do like the sound of some of the fishing items...the polls, coins, etc...neat stuff, but not enough to get me to 'grind' it out. I have very little patience for that sort of thing, I'll even buy profession kits from time to time (which are perfectly "legal" in-game, fyi).

One of my absolute all-time best memories of WoW is when I teamed up with random hunters to go track down rare spawns all over the maps. We didn't know each-other before hand, it was the model PUG outside a dungeon (iirc what got us talking to each-other was some n00b was hating on hunters and we all ganged up on him, then it just went from there). We each took a different zone and flew a rout, with NPCscan running. If you found something you didn't have, you called it out and had 'rights' to tame it. We would come help you if there was competition. If you already had it, someone else in the group could tame it, and you would babysit it for them until they could. Total strangers working together, and on our first day (maybe 3hrs of play) we each got a couple rares. This went on for a few weeks before it just sort of stopped. We all got a lot of rares and achievements while doing that. Good times. That's what I like to do in WoW, not 'grind'. It's just preference.

You like fishing, I say go for it. It's your $15, do what you want, have fun.

See that right there is my problem with fishing. I logged into WoW to play WoW and have fun with WoW right ****ing now. If I'm just going to watch TV, I won't pay $15 pr/mo, I'll just watch TV.

Jerry, paying people to play a game for him that he pays for.

I don't use leveling services. Not only is it the #1 way to get hacked but that would deprive me of the chance to show off my heirlooms.

It is good fun as a tank to transmorg your raid gear into heirlooms just to watch the healer's reactions :p

Okay, it's your opinion that fishing is for bots and drunk players - and I am neither.

By the way, I hate this cross realm ****. Hope virtual realms doesn't make things even worse.

Well they're toying with new tech for the military and also fuzzy-logic models for everything from forecasting weather to stock-market trends and behaviors to various terror attacks, so expect it to mess up the game quite a lot. The players are the least of Blizzard's concerns so long as they keep paying their monthly dues.

They realy do need to let us chose not to show more clothing, and let us transmogrify 2H weapons into fishing polls.

Who has time for games like those?
People and folks.

Seriously though like 1/3rd of the community (varies by server, some are much better than others) are bots and about 1/2 of them are American private individuals, not gold sellers, who are only in the game to make real money. A good botting set-up can get you $500+ real dollars pr/ week. Free money just for letting your comp sit there running a bo program while you're at work.

$2,000 per/mo - computer cost and internet....that's a healthy ****ing mortgage payment for nothing. Nothing. Your comp just sits there and runs a program.
