I know this is up for huge debate...but I recently have been playing a lot of DAY z/ARMA 2 and I LOVE that game. The realism is awesome. But I am nominating for a concept a game called...

Takistan Life. It is a spin off of Arma and is a GREAT game. You can mine, be a cop, terrorist, sell drugs, be a president. If you have Arma 2 Combined arms I suggest yall check it out. It is a alot of fun. It could really be a standalone like Day Z...it is Grand Theft Auto with more open world, better multi player, more realistic gun play. A system of money and stuff too. It is really fun.

I loved BF3...and I got sick of COD. Anyone else?

I wish I could play Battlefield 3 I just bought it but the fact that it uses the web browser to lauch games is horrible and doesn't even work half the time, the FOV slider doe snot go high enough either. I also have a lot of trouble with actually finding a server. What king of shooters are you looking for multiplayer or singleplayer?

The only game that never bored me was MW2. I could play online free for alls forever.

That's another game I can't play because there is no damn FOV slider. It should be a crime to not have a FOV slider in an FPS game.

Half Life and Wolfenstien and maybe(probably) Doom. I cannot think of anything that compares.

Fov slider? Any shooter though btw. I played ps3 bf3 and it was great...just not enough players.

Greatest shooter....Carlos Hathcock!!

You might like arma 2/3. The sniping is very realistic. I got into a sniper duel with a guy at like 700m. He had a better gun...but I had a better spot...under a truck with lots of cover.

The game is all about cover, when to move, when to hide, when to shoot, and all that jazz. They could make the cqb better, but it is designed around a 100-300m combat system.

Unreal Tournament and all it's many game formats - I can adjust any level of game play either in online mode, campaign mode, or quick play mode to suit my abilities, interest, wants and needs. It's widely versatile and very user friendly. Of course - it's not a 'plot' game in its entirety - but now that they've gained a following with the Unreal platform the smoothness of the play and some of their options and peripherals (which were at one time entirely cutting edge) are available in other games coming to the market.

All hail Unreal.

If Unreal would approach famous alien and historical battles - with their nuts and bolts and all the goodness that I love them for - it'd be heaven for gameplayers. No more **** graphics, no more crap controls, no more lame bs.

FOV-S is the option to control your field of view. It's usually given in a sliding-bar form so you can adjust how much of the game is visible when you play.

Field of view, if it is not high enough many people including myself suffer eye strain, headaches, and motion sickness in first person games. This is one of the reasons I can never play a COD game.

An ok. Yea you have to tweak that in day z with a script thing. Of course then all your ranging is different for mil dot formulas. You should 180 degree fov and no more or less. Of course that pretty much requires a 3rd person perspective from what I have heard.

I love aiming down the sites. I played unreal tournament 04 I think. Great game. I got board though. I like modern military shooters with bullet drop and all that. I'm not as into the arcade feel anymore. My problem with most military shooters is that they can't balance ranged play with cqb. Cod was great cqb, but there was no range. I hate that. I want open maps. But then games joing joint operations and delta force or arma or can't get great cqb. Battlefield 3 did well to mix it up...but there were holes in the weapon play.

Arma is almost perfect too me. It needs better cqb and some tighter urban maps with some Tdm hostage rescue type multiplayer.

Yeah, I forgot Unreal. Good call Aunt Spiker.

Arma 2.

And now Arma 3.

Atari Battlezone.

Just regular arma 2 and day z

My goodness. Day Z is awesome. Love the whole...never knowing when you are gonna get shot in the back/face/chest feeling. It is a nerve racking game if you get into it.

Yep. But there are bit too many backstabbing pricks.

Anyway, haven't played it for months now. I have arma 3 lite, got it when it first came out, but my PC can't handle it properly :(.

Fortunately, later this year, I'll get a new laptop that should run it quite well.

What is with people gaming on laptops these days? I have always understood that to be a no no. Way to hard on the system to be any good.

I don't buy "gaming" laptops.
I buy laptops because I need them in my field of work. The fact that the ones I buy are powerful enough to also be decent for gaming, its another thing. For instance, the one I have can run Witcher 2 on minimum, but even then, it can lag at some points.

I agree, gaming laptops are not good for gaming.

This game looks fun. Anyone seen or played it? I like the idea of it.

I personally am hoping that there can be a new shooter to the market that is a rehash of an old title. Too many BF and CODs out there now. I'm sick of them.

Greatest Shooters? Quake 1 and 2 (nostalgia). Currently I've been enjoying PlanetSide 2 and BF 3. With BF3 you need a 1k comp. and surround sound to really enjoy it.

Battlefield 2 for PC.

BF3 is prettier and all, for the "graphics make the game" crowd, but BF2 was much better in regards to team play. I miss the whole line of command from Commander through squad leaders, to soldiers. I loved being the commander, calling out where the highest concentration of enemies were, or keeping squads supplied, and even using artillery to soften up a flag point. I hate that BF3 lets the children basically "buy" a "level 100" and there's a lot less team play.

Of All Time?

Marathon..

I'm not a big fan of the pay to win games where you can simply buy better weapons with real money.

I play TF2 these days and a smaller FPS that is a niche game, think Aliens series meets C&C.

I've played all of the COD's and I have to say that while I get bored with them quite easily, and the majority of people who play are either children or retards, it has some of the best mechanics. I love borderlands 2. Haven't played any of the arma's or day z - my comp is too garbage.
