Nope. I'd wager closer to poser than connoisseur . You could argue that GF is garbage because : it's stupidly easy, there is no action and it's all clicking nonsense that a monkey strapped to a computer could manage to get through the entire game, People who play games like battlefront aren't looking for humor, by the way, and most gamers aren't either, rather interested in things like control/immersion/replayability/graphics/sound etc.. By the way, what exactly is "intelligent" about GF?
What a bunch of verbal masturbation. Was it good for you?
The game is so stupid and easy a chimp could complete it. it has no replayability whatsoever. The characters are stupid, forgettable props and not even remotely believable. The puzzles are illogical, simplistic and often little more than trial and error. There is no strategy or skill required in the entire game, makiing it about as interactive as your average screensaver. I could go on.
There is a reason why there are different genres of games, because people play them with different tastes and desires. How creative can a simulator game be when the entire premise is copying something with as high fidelity as possible, for instance? You should avoid not just gamers, but games in general, as books are far cheaper way to get what you so desire or rate highly in video games.
You have done an excellent job epitomizing everything that is aesthetically wrong with gamers. For one thing, this self-contradictory old criticism of adventure games, complaining that the puzzles dont make sense or are trial and error, is just sour grapes. People say this when they just haven't got the chops for puzzle games.
Aventure games are the only games with real artistic merit, precisely because they are good for the same reason literature is good. They add a new dimension of interactivity to literature. It's a true and meaningful artistic development, which is unfortunately made to play second fiddle to mindless shooter games. If you want to shoot something, get a real gun. At least you're developing a practical skill.
Smart games, just like smart literature, are never going to appeal to the masses. But thankfully, there is a growing independent adventure game development community that still produces the only good type of game, like LucasArts and Sierra used to. I'll gladly leave Star Wars and Halo to the gamers
