So after yet another horrendous EA game launch debacle (they have done this many times before), EA decided to give those of us who purchased the new Simcity a free PC game. Here are the options:

  • Battlefield 3

  • Dead Space 3

  • Mass Effect 3

  • Medal of Honor Warfighter

  • Simcity 4 (hahahahah!)

  • Need for Speed Most Wanted '12

  • Bejeweled 3

  • Plants vs Zombies ($10 game)

I'm looking at Mass Effect or Dead Space, but I've never played the first two games of either series. What would you choose?

Also, I already have Simcity 4 and Battlefield 3.

Easy, Mass Effect 3, it's so awesome, just went through it again, and loved every second of it. Though I would suggest getting the first two, since the story is even greater when you import your previous saved games into the next game.

Oh, and download the extended cut for ME3 if you do get it, it's free, and rather vital.

ME3 and DS3 are pretty decent games, but there's not much point in jumping into a trilogy on the last game.

I'd probably go for Medal of Honor.

Mass Effect 3. It's a no-brainer.

EA.... so much greed... I should have guessed the only good games they decided to include would require some out of pocket purchase to fully enjoy. I'll go with mass effect 3. Maybe I can find the first two cheap somewhere

Okay, I think blaming EA for giving you something for free is a stretch, but you should be able to find the first two games for cheap. They just released the trilogy which has all 3 games for 60 bucks.

Steam usually has them on sale for 7$ in their large sales.

Ask then for a good game...ie one that EA is not involved in.

They didn't just decide to give away one of those games out of the sweetness of their hearts. It was their indiscriminate greed that forced them to apologize with a free game (and forced the resignation of their CEO Monday), so I'm not just throwing out that accusation carelessly. They have a record of greedy business practices.

I got ME3 for free, so I'm not going to pay $60 for the first two. I did find a deal for the two games for under $15, so that's cool. The new EA CEO will have an uphill battle to reclaim the trust of the gaming community.

It's EA that's providing the game for free, as an apology for screwing over the most devoted fans of one of the most popular game franchises. I'm not sure why EA would allow me to purchase a free game from a reputable company like Steam.

Battlefield 3 is what I picked, and I am thoroughly impressed at how much more awesome the PC version is than the console.

I didn't want to get ME3, as jumping into the trilogy with the last game wouldn't work for me. I need to get all three and play them all.

I wasn't interested in any of the other games presented.

I always found the Mass Effect series too easy. I'm not sure whose idea it was to let you turn invisible...
