I quit MMOs a few weeks ago and wanted something to capture some free time. I saw a pop-up about being able to play realistic, free golf online. I've always liked golf games, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
It took me to an online golf game called World Golf Tour. You make your avatar and use a login name, and you can play on simulated real courses, like Bethpage Black, St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, etc. You start off with starter clubs and starter everything, but you can spend "credits" to get better clubs, balls, and other things to help your game. You can get credits by paying real money (which I don't do), or you can earn credits by taking online surveys and watching commercials and crap. It saves your game information, and you can "level up" by earning experience and improving your play.
I gotta say, I'm becoming addicted.
