Anyone playing this ? and if so your opinion please....

ives been playing it,so farits been pretty awesome.

it used to have a bucn of bugs but most of them are gone except the occasional one.the game starts out with personal story you select, then merges into the main story in different ways depending on your choices.

I bought it. I played it. I did not care for it.

I wish I had stayed with WoW, honestly.

Second hand, but I hear that despite a less than ideal launch, it is a pretty good game at this point.

Mind giving me a quick rundown why you didnt like it....so far your the only one..

PvP pretty much doesn't exist. I mean, it exists, but it's an afterthought. If you like exploring new worlds, doing unique events, following quests and epic quests lines...a.k.a. if you like really fascinating PvE and exciting story lines, it's a great game. If your goal is endgame PvP, you will be sorely upset.

well that was a trademark of the first gw also.in the first one,pvp was the endgame, but the endgame could be achieved without actually playing the pve game.in games like wow it required grindingto achieve the best gear, whereas gw allowed items skills andmods to be unlocked by playing pvp.

now gw2 is setup different, but it does seem to hold atleast some of the original intent, which was to have a pvp that wasnt geared towards grinders with best gear, but towards players with the best strategy.the first gw was renowned for its pvp before arenanet screwed it up bad by trying to make it friendly towards wow players and casual players.

There is a reason for this: with one exception that I can think of, PvPcentric games have failed, usually miserably. Best example is probably Darkfall.

Thank You...ironically I was reading their forum and some wow players say they love pvp...everyone likes a different flavor :)...It may be time for me to get away from PVP anyway...Im sick of bgs...rbgs mostly suck because its like raids...people dont show up, dont have enough etc...arena, the same with 4s and 5s...they dont show up, they quit...I just pissed away alot of money on games...aion, rift, tera for 3...so I have a decision to make...thanks again gip and redress :)

I bought guildwars2 today..having installed it yet...going to read some more about the pvp...

Hmm now that is not what I expected. I expected a PVP game with PVE after thought.. interesting...Might actually try it now. PVP SUCKS!

There is enough PVP crap in real life, so why the hell take that to a fantasy game online? :)

I disagree, mainly due to the fact that the sample size really isn't big enough to draw a good conclusion. The amount of MMOs I've encountered out there where the focus was PvP is a very, very small number. I've seen tons of games where PvP exists, but almost all of them have a "meh we'll put it in because we have to" nonchalance about them. The amount of games I've seen and played where the center of focus was PvP, I can count on one hand and still have room left over.

It also has to do with your frame of reference on "successful". If we hold MMOs to WoW's bar, then pretty much all of them have failed.
