Vanguard was a release flop...plaqued with bugs and untold problems...it dies quickly. Clear case of releasing a game waaaay before it was ready. Now...Supposedly, they got it pretty much right...and now its also free to play.
I have a couple of long time gaming buddies who are messing around with it and like it....So anyone that cares to try it...again its free

Crashing while turning in Quests

I have crashed a few times now while I was turning in quests. Twice have had a serious impact on gameplay. The first time was when I was trying to start the crafting quests. When I spoke to the first outfitter npc that starts the whole process I crash after opening the conversation. After that he would no longer talk to me and I could not for the life of me find out how to get my crafting going. So I deleted my character after not hearing back from anyone about the problem I was having and figuring the game had flagged that quest for me in some weird way so I could not continue the line nor resstart it. After remaking the character I found out that I was right and I made it all the way through the crafting tutorial without crashing in a quest dialoge. Sadly not long after that I crashed after talking to the main guy in the academy and him sending me to the combat trainer to get my second set of daggers. I crashed while talking to the trainer and now I have no daggers from him nor do I have a way to restart this questline. I also lost the experience for talking to the main guy prior to the trainer which leveled me. It feels like the game roles back partially and leaves quest flags hanging somewhere in the middle. Any help would be great because this is a problem that is a game stopper for me completely.

I have to pay to fix their errors now?

I logged in tonight, to not only find that I still can't see anything in my claim screen, and a problem with a quest not giving one of my characters their reward item has also not been acknowledged let alone addressed, but to also find that the face of one of my characters was been totally changed (again) was a real kick to the head.

I click on "customize" to fix it and am told that I can only use this function by buying an item from the marketplace?

I didn't change it in the first place! Random character changes is one of the bugs this game has had since Beta, which is why the customize window remained active after character creation in the first place. Then, when some sliders were disabled our characters had a forced appearance change and I had to redo it again. I now find my character changed yet again, and this time I am supposed to pay to fix it. Not happening! I would ask that I be given the item to fix your error, but I wouldn't be able to claim it. Even then what happens the next time one of your errors changes her appearance?

From playing around with the character creator, it looks like some sliders have been reversed for some races, which would explain why the eye slant on my character (Thestra Human) is now the opposite of what it was, along with some other oddities that makes her look like a circus freak. Other characters appear unchanged, but they are a different race. If I hadn't been told to cough up cash to fix it, I wouldn't be near as upset. I don't think I am alone in saying that I am not going to pay for workarounds for bugs, it was bad enough to feel like I was paying to continue Beta testing after release.

I had actually canceled my station pass and decided at the last minute to renew with the hope that Vanguard was going to finally get the attention it deserved. I am fast regretting that decision.

To be fair, it appears the second issue is being addressed by the developers. The first one, however, seems quite serious and the thread hasn't had a response from the developers yet.

Myself? I like games with well-developed PvP elements. It appears this one doesn't have that...except for some kind of arena. For this reason, I'll pass.

I understand.

I thank you for making this game known. I'm always on the look-out for good F2P MMO's.

I have played it some, and the big problem with it is that it is very vanilla. If you have played EQ or WoW, you have played 95 % of Vanguard. The unique feature, diplomacy, is just a CCG and not that good of a CCG. There is nothing wrong with it, but my FTP gameplay has been with Everquest, where I am seriously thinking of paying for 2 accounts and spending some time.

Oh, one big positive for Vanguard...it looks incredible, really impressive graphics and visual appeal.
