I think it just boils down to most people not knowing that Africa is as fragmented as it is.

I think Africa was a mess long before the colonist. It was supposedly a real nice place to live 2 million years ago.

Where in Africa? But most countries I'm aware of require one to be a citizen by birth to become President.

Liberia only allows Negroes or persons of Negro descent to acquire citizenship, others can at most be granted permanent residency.

You do realize that Europeans carved up the African continent starting in the late 1700's and went through the last holding in the 1960's and held most of the land as their colonies, right?

It was the colonial rule, where the whites were in charge, that destroyed African social norms, civilizations and cultural wealth to better suit the European rulers. Some nations treated their colonies better than others, but in the end, the white colonial rulers, who were always the minority, who tried to force the ways of white men on the Africans. The British and Germans occupied and ruled most of what we know as Kenya and the western coast of Africa, the Belgians in the Congo, the Dutch and Germans who would later cause trouble for the British in South Africa by becoming Boers and Afrikaaners and again the British in Egypt with French territories in the northwest in places like Morocco and Libya.

Sorry, your comment is inaccurate in that whites had a far-reaching and devastating role in Africa.
