For centuries America has bullied and pillaged countries weaker than it. And when their are countries that have the means, tech, and firepower to fight back, America either tries to topple their gov. to gain control or creates an ally to help them in their bullying and pillaging. And when neither of the tricks worked they resorted to assassination. That control/superiority complex is what has allowed America to continue on for so long without any repercussions. But today I'm going to speak on a specific country that has had to and still does today, live under Americas tyranny; Africa. It started with the 'Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade'(1526) when a Portuguese first reached Brazil carrying human cargo, an actual people away from their homeland. While this was happening their were other European countries trying and successfully draining Africa and its countries of its natural resources(land, gold and diamonds, ivory, and palm oil just name a few). But even this pillage Africa, this great Holocaust of the African people couldn't satisfy them. They went on to steal artifacts away from ancient burial sites even going as far as to take the bodies, just because of some belief that it was for history or for the preservation of an ancient race. What they failed to realize was that this ancient race didn't bury its Kings or Queens with hope or belief that they would be excavated and disrupted from their eternal rest, then moved from their homeland just for people to poke over their remains. And when they were done studying the artifacts and mummies they built museums (British Museum) and put them on display for the world to see, not even considering returning them to their burial site. And with the millions maybe billions of dollars these museums accrued over the years, none of that money was sent back to Africa to try and repay what was stolen from them.

Are....are you seriously trying to blame the US for events occurring hundreds of years before it was a thing?

Africa is a continent, not a country...

So.... Sins of America.... Slave trade.

The US came into being 1789 and by 1804 had outlawed slave importation... After hundreds of years of European slaving.

The US had no colonies in Africa so much of your ranting is nullified.

The US did trade with African nations.

The US did support the country of Liberia where former slaves could return to.

Please try again and fail less.

Wasn't George Washington the first U.S. president? And didn't he have slaves himself? And when I said America I meant Europe(people make mistakes)

Yes, but I believe you can make a better case for US missteps, brutality and greed by simply pointing out that though we are proud of our contribution to freedom and anti imperialism, we often failed our principles when put to the test. Unlike France and Britain, we didn't colonize Africa, but instead the 13 former colonies that started out hugging the east coast at the end of the 18th century wound up in Manila at the end of the 19th, ignoring the people in between. Since then we have exercised veto power over govenments in Latin America, much as our adversaries, the Soviets did in Eastern Europe. And then there was Vietnam.

At the same time, the US has been an inspiration to many, making great contributes to human freedom, instructive to even those who wound up being our enemies. Apparently Ho Chi Mihn took language from our founding documents as inspiration for his movement.

I tend to see the US as the equivalent of any other powerful country in history. Almost all have tended to bully and rip off their neighbors. And we hav tended to be infected with an "our **** doesn't stink" patriotism, which is maddening at times to both our allies and to citizens of countries we have invaded or exploited, who at times seem to have a more mature approach to their history.

The United States did actually colonize Africa. Liberia was initially set up by the American Colonization Society as a destination for freed slaves and other American blacks.

One1 is without sin.

Any wagers to prior identities used by the same troll?

Or his one supporter? Likely one and the same.

True. I was thinking of the taking over of vast parts of the continent without any such excuse as a new homeland.

You do know that 95% of slaves from the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade went to Latin America not the US. And that 100% were originally enslaved by other Blacks? No they were not satisfying Trans Atlantic Slave demand, for thousands of years before Columbus 60% of Africa had the other 40% enslaved.

Slavery is Human history far less than US or White History. The entire concept that Slavery and Racism is a moral wrong is from White Western Cloture.

Did you know that when Africans enslaved other Africans it was after battle. They were given a place to live and food to eat, and were not beaten with whips or chained in giant metal collars. They were also able to gain their freedom after several years of not hard labor but labor(cleaning, tending to the crops, protecting the family when the husband was away). So even though America didn't "create" slavery, they did take it to the most extreme with their punishments(whips) and torture(castration). Also if you think about it Slavery of Africans was the biggest holocaust.

Many battles were for intent and purpose of collecting slaves.

And have you figured out the difference between a country on the west Atlantic and a continent on the east side?

There sure were a lot of battles considering that for thousands of years 60% of Sub Saharan had the other 40% enslaved. Yes Africans and Middle Easterner did have chattel slavery, mostly mining.

1. As President William Jefferson Clinton used to say: "I feel your pain."

2. This is 2019. I feel that it is time to stop dwelling on the past.

3. Today, Africa has many problems, principally unbelievably corrupt and incompetent government.

4. The African people have to find a way to handle this problem.

5. Blaming everything on the United States is not helpful.

Best wishes

Ah...

So your rant was misdirected, unsourced and utterly unfounded in fact or accuracy.

Alrighty, then!

All of that accepted, the US has been a world power, the dominant Super Power, for a fairly long time and it has done comparatively little to slow the expansion of democratically ruled, independent sovereign states.

In the not so distant past, many of the European nations had colonized empires world wide. The US seems committed to avoiding this approach and also committed to the UN type of approach.

Across history, there have been a few extended periods of relative peace: Pax Romana, Pax Britannica and now Pax Americana. Pax Americana may or may not extend to a comparable run of time.

It is only in Pax Americana that Empire with dominance, tribute and direct control has not been employed as the "business model".

Looks like the bottom line is money that someone feels owed. Not gonna happen.

Some fine points, but I think that Latin Americans from Guatemala to Chile might disagree with your characterization of Pax Americana.

Are there currently problems south of our border related to American policy? Currently invasions being conducted by the former colonial lords of Europe?

What are you referencing?
