Texas to ban most abortions due to virus outbreak

Hmmm...so if a woman gets raped and is made pregnant...not only is she forced to have the child...but probably have to pay the medical costs for it as well.

Good job, Texas. Way to be compassionate...hope those who support this doesn't have a daughter, wife or mother get pregnant by rape. Being serious, not sarcastic...the rape is bad enough, having to live through the resulting hell...and then when they have the kid...you guys will turn your backs on her when she asks for assistance.

It is ridiculous that texas is playing politics during this pandemic. All this does is endanger women

So if your pet is sick, just let it suffer?

That is a conversation you need to have with your vet, Nonetheless they are cancelling procedures that require PPE

Texas considers the needs of pets is more critical than those of women. Sounds like the old country music whine about the misery of losing your truck, your dog and your wife. in that order.

Not confined to Texas. They want as much medical stuff routed to hospitals as possible. Look at how people freaked out in Washington because Target even dared to put masks on the shelves for sale when those should be provided to medical staff per the pearl clutchers (once they bought their box undoubtedly).

Most abortions are medical abortions using Mifepristone which is prescribed by a doctor who does not have to be present, but is administered by personnel trained only in that one procedure. They could offer no more help than the average person without any medical knowledge. Using the need for all medical personnel in the pandemic to close abortion clinics is unwarranted and probably not of any help. The personnel doing D&E abortions have medical training and could be released to help with the pandemic. They represent only a tiny % of abortion providers.

This is nothing more than another way anti-abortion conservatives, usually male justify taking away from women the right to make personal decisions while strenuously defending that right for themselves.

This is so sad that all those babies will be forced to live. Maybe some liberal judge will okay smothering the baby in the crib.

We can only hope

That kind of comment is usually made by someone uninformed about the issues surrounding abortion or by a garden variety jerk.

There are people posting here who can discuss the issue intelligently with you. It's probably a sure bet that you are not interested in being informed.

Explain to me how they butcher the baby.I'm uniformed.

Then the baby back ribs

On the surface, it does seem like an act in the interest of public health. But, I suspect more sinister efforts are behind this decision.

It is necessary to cancel unnecessary surgeries. The problem is because embryos become fetuses and keep growing, constantly increasing the risk of maternal harm, canceling them now will make every would-be patient's situation worse. It is an emergency, but not an emergency at the same time.

SCOTUS justices Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Samuel Alito referred to the overturned Texas law when they struck down the a similar abortion law in Louisiana. Texas is trying to get revenge.
