pp president fired, only on the job 8 months

And why do you think this indicates a death spiral?

not normal for a company to fire their president that short of time. they can see the writing on the wall. they are on verge of being defunded and shutdown.

From the Daily Beast:

Wen, an emergency physician and former Baltimore commissioner of health, made waves at Planned Parenthood soon after her arrival in November 2018. Unlike former president Cecile Richards, a long-time political organizer and activist, Wen emphasized the importance of healthcare over politics and sought to expand the organization's services outside abortion—a move that caused some to question her commitment to reproductive rights advocacy.

...“If this were really about healthcare, she wouldn't be stigmatizing abortion and trans healthcare like she was,” the source said. “The philosophical differences were a small part of it. The management and leadership issues were devastating.” Leana Wen, Head of Planned Parenthood, Ousted After ‘Secret’ Meeting

From NPR:

Dr. Wen said, ""I believe the best way to protect abortion care is to be clear that it is not a political issue but a health care one, and that we can expand support for reproductive health care as the fundamental health care that it is," the 36-year-old former health commissioner in Baltimore added." You can only hope for the best- maybe soon women won't have access to safe abortions. One more step towards putting them back in their place.

Wen is right. It should be about healthcare. But the right will not stand for it to be anything but a political wedge issue. So they will have to get someone in who has the grit for all the disgusting politicking that will need to be done.

Companies do that all the time... I know a CEO who goes in precisely when instances like this happens. He helps the company turn it around for three or four months and then he goes to the next company... sometimes it is just for a new direction, not a death spiral.

if you look at pp's history, their president typically holds that position for about a decade.

And this one tried a new approach that ruffled too many feathers. Your point?

Wen is a wack job.She wanted to provide health care services for women when Planned Parenthood is in business to butcher babies in the womb.

It is not normal for states to pass such flatly unconstitutional severe abortion restrictions ether.

From the following Reuters article:

The federation's board, however, decided to "double down" on making abortion rights a key priority as the group engages in legal and political battles after some states passed severe restrictions women's ability to terminate pregnancies, Wen said.

"With the landscape changing dramatically in the last several months and the right to safe, legal abortion care under attack like never before, I understand the shift in the board's prioritization,"
she said in a statement posted on Twitter.
Planned Parenthood has been a high-profile target for anti-abortion activists.

a sign that the company is on a death spiral. they will probably insert someone even more extreme and controversial.

Sorry , Bucky. You had so much praise for her when she was first hired.

What a great hire from Planned Parenthood. Selecting a doctor and not a lobbyist or politician is refreshing news.

"The Right" isn't responsible for Wen's firing.

There is also rumor that the council did not like her aversion to inclusive gender pronouns.

It's also funny to see an organization that swears up and down that they are an apolitical women's health group, and not all about abortion, fired their President for not being political enough about abortion...

Seems to me it was the pro life people who passed the very restrictive anti abortion laws that led to her departure.

From the Reuter’s article I posted.

It's what happens when you can pull stuff out of your ass, when facts and reality doesn't matter, whatever you want to believe is true

I see. New laws caused her to be fired.

New laws can change the entire landscape for any service or industry. That means there may be many employees not prepared to deal with them. The proposed new laws may have created the need for a greater response to support abortion rights at PP...if they believe another person would be better in Wen's role to lead that initiative to fight more...it's very reasonable.

IMO it's not a reflection on Wen, I liked her focus on women's healthcare and hope she is well-received elsewhere.
