Seems pretty logical to me.

Several states are getting smart and passing heart beat bills. Since they pronounce you dead when your heart stops beating, It follows that you must be alive when your heart starts beating.

Is a person (actually born) who is brain dead really alive? Isn’t that actual person completely dependent on artificial support to maintain respiratory and other essential to life functions?

And yet a person with a heart beat can be removed from life support, thus killing them. Same as you can remove a fetus from the life support of the womans body.

No person is required to use their own body to keep another persons heart beating.

Many trauma patients experience brain death long before the heart stops beating. For all intents that person is dead and will remain dead regardless of any cardiac activity. It is the same for some pregnancies.

Anencephaly is the absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp that occurs during embryonic development. It is a cephalic disorder that results from a neural tube defect that occurs when the rostral (head) end of the neural tube fails to close, usually between the 23rd and 26th day following conception.

The pro-life folks choose to ignore other factors that contribute to life.

No. A person with a beating heart can be medically defined as deceased by doctors and family.

As others have stated its the brain that makes us who we are. Not very logical.

Actually in the United States and many other countries a person can be declared dead while the heart is beating strongly.

They are kept on artificial support for a period of time. If the next of kin agrees, the deceased can have his organs harvested and placed in another individual who has the ability to survive.

Only through the good graces of the mother. It sure seems logical to me to give a heartbeat more rights than the mother.

That's not even true. When your heart stops beating, they do CPR.

So no, it doesn't "follow". A pig has a heartbeat. Does that mean we shouldn't eat pigs?

Why is that of value? It's purely a physiological function that we share will all higher animals...which we kill indiscriminately.

It's actually a dehumanizing idea, classifying people by the lowest common denominator of life.

And stop breathing.

More ignorant drivel from you. By that lack of thinking the people who use defibrillators in cases of cardiac arrest are beating a dead horse.

It follows that you must be alive when your heart starts beating.
Only in the world of the uneducated.
