*Unplanned* hits theaters today

Has anyone who's actually seen the movie posted an opinion here?

I plan on watching the movie, im guess the poor reviews are correct but i plan on watching for myself anyway.

Masochist much.

Is this one of those right wing religious pics?

Yes, the picture touches on issues related to sex, drugs, religion and politics. All the necessities for popular movies in today's America.

I think what you're trying to do here is insinuate that perhaps the attack was justified. Seems to me that if you were genuinely curious, you would have Googled for more information.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

“The victim is an 85-year-old male and the suspect approached him and attempted to steal the victim’s banner,” said Officer Robert Rueca, a San Francisco police spokesman. “The victim was using the banner for a planned protest. The victim attempted to stop the suspect from taking the banner. That’s when the suspect assaulted the victim.” Video shows man kicking 85-year-old antiabortion demonstrator outside Planned Parenthood in San Francisco - SFChronicle.com

From the NBC affiliate:

An 85-year old man was attacked as he prayed outside a Planned Parenthood in San Francisco last Thursday, and it was all caught on video.

The 23-second clip shows a man carrying a banner then 85-year old Ron attempting to stop him by jamming something into the bike spoke.

"I tried to keep him from taking it and that was it," Ron said. "Then he knocked me down and kicked me."

From Townhall.com:

The San Francisco 40 Days for Life team was victimized by the same man earlier in the week. On Tuesday, just two days prior Thursday’s attack, the same suspect reportedly threw a sign, a table, and pro-life literature into the street. He also knocked two men to the ground during the incident, including the same 85-year-old man he attacked again on Thursday. 85-Year-Old Attacked While Praying Outside Planned Parenthood in San Francisco

Thank you for further explanation.

But I never insinuated there was justification. These words should have made that clear:

I by no means condone that younger man's actions for any reason but it was very unclear why he attacked that older man.

But as I also wrote, the video available was confusing and the only context I had was that brief vid.

The clinic had specified hours and was otherwise closed, but there were 24-hour cameras and routine police patrols. It was directly across the street from a TV station too and on a street that is very heavily trafficked. There were never any problems. It was never vandalized, and there was never an incident, not in 15 years.

I do not support violence on either side. This person should be charged, if he hasn't been already.

And you couldn't take the time to learn the facts for yourself. Don't forget that part.

You are correct. My interest did not extend that far.

No. If you are genuinely interested, you can do a Google search on the three local sources I have already named. Or if you think these are somehow slanted, you can check the Houston Chronicle. Or police reports.

The film Unplanned is based on the book of the same title and true story of former PP clinic director Abby Johnson and is rated "R." The reviews I've read are just what you would expect, whatever your opinion on abortion. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9024106/

I heard it is an excellent film.

I heard it is an excellent film.

I've been out of town part of the weekend and haven't checked my e-mail, but one of my usual Friday lunch gang left early to see it with a girlfriend, and I'm looking forward to hearing her opinion. I don't plan to see the film myself.

Sorry, but I am only going to the movies for something enjoyable. There might be 4 or 5 movies I might go and see. Even if this film played at a theatre close to me, I would have no plan to go and see it.

I also doubt that this movie conveys the message sent as effectively as the book did. Books are much more useful for promoting/telling difficult stories. Buy the audiobook if it exists (for people who are unwilling to read).

I also am not going to read the book, this kind of story does not interest me, because it is a personal, moral and political issue it is talking about and pro-choice and pro-life will never agree on the legality of abortion.

IOW, you can't cite a source. I understand and accept your concession.

I always love the baiting "I accept your surrender" stuff. But please do go on and share how one proves a negative.

You can prove that a certain substance isn't found in a certain food by analyzing the food.

Despite marketing difficulties, Unplanned took in double the projected $3 million over the weekend:

It wasn’t an easy road to this strong opening. The film’s producers noted that multiple TV networks declined to air spots for the film and its Twitter page was briefly suspended on Saturday before being reinstated an hour later. ...Pure Flix says it will try to follow up on this start by expanding the film to 1,700 screens next weekend, hoping to leg out through the Lent and Easter season. https://www.thewrap.com/anti-aborti...x-office-expectations-with-6-million-opening/

Yeah seems like they are having lots of trouble due to very poor projections and damaged credibility since the film is not based as much on a true story as much as it claims....

sadly now i wont be seeing it until its on dvd or streaming etc

at first look it seems its only playing in my area at the nicest and biggest theater and no where else. . but its also in one of the nicest screen rooms with recliners and reserved seating . . . .so its like double the price . .i do wanna see it but certainly not at that price.

Maybe they will be successful in expanding its screens like it says. Ill see it in the 6.99 to 9.99 range but not over that.

My wife and I saw the movie two nights ago and thought it was very good. Well made and well acted. I was surprised at how well balanced it was, at times I asked myself "whose side are they on?" Only towards the end does it seem to become less even
handed. Overall, I think it far less propagandistic than any pro-choice movie or TV show I've ever seen. The Planned Parenthood characters were generally well-rounded and shown with a certain amount of sympathy. This was a vast change from pro-
choice shows which show 'the other side' as one-dimensional cartoon characters.

Haha the left-wingers in this thread are hilarious.

Hollywood makes movies blatantly pushing every echo-chambered leftist view = "deal with it".
Someone makes a movie that disagrees with their echo-chambered leftist view = "omg how dare you!"

Thanks for that post

I find the R rating halarious, a 15 year old can get an abortion without parental consent but is unable to watch a movie about abortion without parental consent

Don't go out looking for logic in Hollywood...
