Should men be involved in the abortion debate?

Should men be involved in the abortion debate? Some people say they should not since men don't get pregnant, so therefore they should not be involved no matter what side they take.

Men don't get pregnant, but they pay support. That gives them a stake in the discussion.

Well, it depends. Should non-disabled people have any say as to what laws are passed regarding handicapped accessibility for public accommodations and businesses? Should people who are not minorities have any say about passing anti-discrimination laws? Should non-billionaires and non-millionaires be involved in discussing how taxes are to be apportioned against the highest income earners?

I will stop with the rhetorical questions. Yes, everyone who has access to the franchise (i.e., can who can legally vote for representatives and on legislation) should be involved in discussions of public policy, even ones in which they may not be directly affected.
Itís in the small things that the rot starts. Do the wrong thing once, itís easier to do it again. Do the individualistic thing once, it is easy to do it again.

We have no reason to exclude men from the debate, it would create an inverse political mess in comparison to when it was only men at the table of discussion on abortion (as in several generations ago.)

Politics via exclusion will ultimately lead to someone(s) being marginalized, history has pretty much made this conclusive.

No. My husband said if I were pregnant and my life were in danger, it's my say. He doesn't feel comfortable arguing with me in a situation like that, and says he is happy he would never have to make such a decision.

Anyone can be involved in debate on any topic. People who repeatedly ask stupid questions should probably be discouraged from engaging though.

Exactly how large is the gap between:

    A) "being involved in the debate"

    and

    B) being the vast majority of the participants writing and voting on the laws

(none of which also considers the age of the men doing the writing and voting, their income bracket, or their race....but you didn't ask that now did you?)

Some people say men shouldn't be involved in the abortion debate. How about this? If I were to say women shouldn't be involved in the gun debate, just as some people say men shouldn't be involved in the abortion debate.

If you were to say that I'd say you truly need to think a little harder.

    Do women own guns?
    Can women own guns?
