New York Law allows Anthony Hobson to kill his girlfriends baby

Prosecutors initially included a charge of abortion against the Queens man arrested Friday in his pregnant girlfriend’s murder — but rescinded it because of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new Reproductive Health Act.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown sent out a press release saying Anthony Hobson, 48, would be charged with second-degree abortion as well as murder in Sunday’s fatal stabbing of Jennifer Irigoyen, 35.

But a DA spokeswoman later told The Post that the abortion charge “was repealed by the Legislature, and this is the law as it exists today.”

Cuomo signed the RHA into law on Jan. 22, the 46th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.

The law removes abortion from the state’s criminal code and puts it into public health law.

Accused murderer spared abortion charge thanks to Cuomo’s new law

What a shame and outrage. It is obviously a CRIME to kill a fetus against the mother's wishes, except in New York. This law is so obviously wrong. It will allow criminals to commit abortions and not get punished. If a boyfriend doesn't want to be a father he can give his girlfriend for example misoprostol, and he would not be charged with a crime.

RIP Jennifer Irigoyen and her unborn child.

Exactly.

Prosecutors have always prosecuted using either feticide laws or the UVVA. They have never prosecuted using an abortion charge for someone killing a fetus against the wishes of a pregnant woman.

But pretending they can’t prosecute because of an abortion law is just bogus.
They are looking for headlines not a prosecution.

The state is right as the law sees it. How do you charge someone with homicide if the embryo does not have rights.

Why is it a crime?...according to the left the fetus isn't even a human. What exactly would the crime be? Killing cells?

Exactly right. By current standards killing a viable fetus should not be murder

Exactly. I've made this argument before. If an attacker takes a bat to a pregnant woman and the unborn dies...is it murder or simply assault? Following their definitions its just assault.

Btw I've made the the same argument but differently.

I suggested after a night of casual sex the man should make the girl breakfast and crush a morning after pill in her food. I suggested it was no different than adding a spice into her food and if she willingly consumed it there should be no crime charged.

The reaction to that suggestion was predictably indignant. How dare a man kill her baby. The irony is rich

There is a HUGE difference between a woman choosing to ending her pregnancy and someone doing it to her against her will. I can't believe that even needs to be explained.

You are confusing a morning after pill with abortion pills that are two different pills usually taken a day or two apart.


Abortion pill” is the common name for using two different medicines to end a pregnancy: mifepristone and misoprostol.

First, you take a pill called mifepristone. Pregnancy needs a hormone called progesterone to grow normally. Mifepristone blocks your body’s own progesterone, stopping the pregnancy from growing.

Then you take the second medicine, misoprostol, either right away or up to 48 hours later. This medicine causes cramping and bleeding to empty your uterus. It’s kind of like having a really heavy, crampy period, and the process is very similar to an early miscarriage. Dude...the morning after pill would not "kill a baby" but giving any medication to a person without their knowledge is dead wrong.

Rather than just giving her a medication without her knowledge, how about using a condom each and every time?
