Who supports your mothers right to have a abortion?

Abortion is legal and its a core right of women to use to decide on the size or shape of their family.

If I was to become a single mother, I would have a abortion. Why can a man walk away from being a father and the mother is forced to raise the child?

Why can't a man abort his right to fatherhood then? Men may walk away emotionally and physically, but they will be legally bound by courts and wage garnishments to provide child support. Early term abortion within the first couple of weeks before major development is ok with me. Anything beyond that is barbaric and should not be a "right."

Most women do not know they are pregnant that early. I see nothing wrong with abortion. Why should your opinion trump mine when it comes to me making decisions for *my* body and it's contents?

The OP framed the OP specifically.

If you are going to move the goal posts to child support, please take it to the Law and Order sub-forum. That has nothing to do with abortion.

There is no force, legal or otherwise, used to make a woman raise the child.

She can put it up for adoption.

Control your body and have your baby... it is your choice. A man should not be bound to her choice though and should be able to walk away from parenthood Scott Free just like a woman can.

He can. He just needs to do so before he decides to have sex. Biology gives women a different time frame for that decision, but that's not a secret...nor can we escape those consequences.

Smart men know to be prepared for their consequences and decide BEFORE having sex if they want to be 'stuck' with whatever the woman decides.

The great thing tho, is that both men and women are completely aware of their risks and able to make good decisions to protect themselves, if they choose.

If you became a single mother, it would mean you did not have an abortion. Maybe you meant to say that if you were single and pregnant, you would have an abortion. Having an abortion would prevent you from becoming a single mother.

Or maybe you are acknowledging that if you are pregnant, you are the "single" mother of the child you are carrying. And your solution is to kill the child with an abortion so that you do not have to raise the child.

Mother? interesting. Wouldn't you have to have a child to be a mother?

As Obama would say. "You didn't build that".

It was a joint effort.

When she was alive. I did.

A woman is not forced to be a mother. The state will take over the child if the mother wants to end her parental rights.

Any person with the basics of reproduction would say that a woman did not become pregnant by herself.

Yep, if she didn't invite one item into her body, she wouldn't need to worry about another.

What if the woman is raped by an 'uninvited' and becomes pregnant by that 'uninvited' intruder ?

To me, that would be an exception. [in less than .5% of abortions]

Should that woman be allowed to abort that fetus if it was your call?

That is not the topic of this thread. There are threads about that. I will not discuss it here.

The woman does 99% of the work. She takes all the risks of pregnancy, and her body suffers the effects, not his. It's *her* decision.

I don't like it, pretty sure my Creator hates it but, if it were my Wife or daughter, I wouldn't stand in the way given the circumstances.

What about women who aren't raped and become pregnant. If it were your call, would you deprive them the option to abort?

From many who populate these threads, "If you dont like abortion, don't have one"

If you don't like the effects of being a mother, don't take a chance by having sex.

It's not going to be "my" call. Never was.

Would I discourage someone from having one? yes.
