Dr. Leana Wen, the health commissioner for the city of Baltimore, has been named the new president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

It will be the first time in nearly five decades that a doctor is the head of Planned Parenthood, according to the organization. She's replacing longtime President Cecile Richards, who announced in January that she would be stepping down.

Wen was an emergency room physician before she transitioned to the world of public health. She will continue to serve as Baltimore's health commissioner for one month before she departs, according to a statement from the city.

In her new role, Wen will also be the president of Planned Parenthood's advocacy arm, which lobbies for reproductive health issues, including wider access to abortion.

Yes and no (and this post is not designed to support Planned Parenthood or be against it.)

The article itself point our that Dr. Leana Wen transitioned to public health a ways back, serving as Baltimore's health commissioner which has political aspects to the job. It also says she will lead up the advocacy arm which is a lobbying group for "reproductive health issues, including wider access to abortion."

If we are trying to be honest she is a doctor, lobbyist, and a politician with a career that supports this.

And it probably was a good hire for them.

Yes, great news! We need a Margaret Sanger for this century.

I hope that she is successful in spreading the need for as much family planning as possible.

This education should start in elementary school.

Having fewer unwanted babies is bound to eventually help in the reduction of violent crime in this country.

So does our judicial system and law enforcement. So does state government and federal governments who send military into harms way (wars).

Planned parenthood cares nothing about women's health. They are a political group.

Heck, the founder of planned Parenthood thought that the races were inferior such as orientals Jews and blacks. She called them human weeds and she wanted to eradicate those races thinking that by performing abortions on these races, she would help usher in their annihilation.

That is the founder of Planned Parenthood stating this and that was it's original purpose!

They make false claims of performing mammograms, which they don't perform. Shameful.
