Not sure how this will hold up, and it will likely be vetoed anyway.

Then Pennsylvania house just banned people from aborting a baby because it has down syndrome.

http://thehill.com/homenews/state-w...sses-bill-banning-abortions-for-down-syndrome

Ohio had a similar law struck down by courts.

This brings up a similar issue, gender based abortions. Where people who want a boy will abort the fetus clump of cells if it turns out to be female. The trouble is, even if you successfully ban it people can always lie as to why they want the abortion.

This has issue has gotten a lot of attention in anti-abortion circles this year (it seems anyway).

My opinion is controversial but I am of the firm belief that of your unwilling to be a a good parent than your mary obligated to murder your child.

That's right, it's muder. No sugar coating it. It is what it is your a premeditated killer. Sometimes it's mercy sometimes it's selfish but don't kid yourself. It's murder. My son grew up knowing until he made it to 18 I reserved my right to abort if he pisses me off that bad

Oh man, tough question...I would, fearfully, hoping like hell I would be an adequate parent, but I would understand anyone who wouldn't...it's a tough row to hoe.

As for the gender thing, no...and I don't really think that's an equivalency anyway.

EDIT: I wouldn't, but would understand anyone who would, sorry, got that crossed.

****ing trouble....lol... I went from righteous indignation to having a hard belly laugh in one post.

I disagree with you on your stance that abortion is murder, definitions are important, no matter how strongly you feel about it. But I will definitely use that line on my son....hehe...

I knew someone was gonna bust me on the legal definition but truth is imo you have the right to not bring lives into the world. I do consider it homicide and I don't take that choice lightly but I do think parents are entitled to decide that in the privacy of their own lives and without big brother peering in and telling them what they must do.

I'm not sure which I find more offensive, forcing someone to parent children they don't want to or killing children they are too uninterested in raising. I find both positions repulsive but neither are my place to dictate. I'm a true libertarian my motto is my mind your own buisiness

While I'm a little less harsh about it, I think we're aligned. It would never be a choice I would make, and I made sure that the decisions I made ensure that I was never put in the position to have to decide. But, I understand **** happens, and it's not always about something as superficial as being uninterested in raising kids, so I land on pro choice. :)

And if you had to be busted by anyone, you know it was gonna be me... ;) haha

Re: Would You Abort A Special Needs Baby?

If I was a liberal I wouldn't think twice about aborting it.But since I am a conservative I would let it live and adore it all I could.

As a potential human I would hope they'd can the faulty shell. Try again with another.

Seriously. Who the hell would want to live in a broke down body?

Pretty much the same if the parents of that shell were abusive Meth heads.

No reason is ever required for an abortion

Re: Would You Abort A Special Needs Baby?

I think it's ultimately the mother's choice and there is no right/wrong decision.

Personally, this is my stance, and I'll be looked at as a cold, callous human being for it. I don't care what you decide to do as the mother, unless it relies on state/federal funds. For instance, if you're a 16 yr old high school dropout already getting on the welfare rolls I will not be happy and that fetus should be aborted immediately. For 2 reasons specifically; proper means for appropriate care, proper funds. I'm not paying for your disabled child you should've never had.

I believe there should be more abortions, and there should be an age restriction on having a child. Either they are aborted or signed over to the many thousands of responsible professional married couples patiently waiting on adoption lists. Give those kids a real chance and take the power away from degenerates. We need to stop this bullcrap of incentivizing people to have kids that they can't and should not raise.

From the link:

The Ohio law is facing multiple legal challenges, and a federal judge has temporarily blocked the law from taking effect, saying that it is an unconstitutional violation of abortion rights.

and, he's right of course. This new law is going nowhere. The legislature probably knows it's going nowhere, but they have to pander to their authoritarian base, so they went ahead and passed it.

Well no country in the world does that

No...

Re: Would You Abort A Special Needs Baby?

I wonder if Liberals were assured that the baby with special needs would grow up to be gay or lesbian would they still be so quick to scrape it from the womb

Yep. Thanks for asking though

Another brilliant post. Be a shame if it turned liberal on you. Real shame.

You should be able to abort a fetus, no questions asked as long as it is in the correct time frame of the pregnancy.

Don't like abortions? Don't have one.

Re: Would You Abort A Special Needs Baby?

I am one of the few pro-choicers who is also “pro-abortion”. I think the world could do with many more abortions. If only healthy babies were born and only parents who were prepared to raise a child had babies, the world would be a much better place.

Yes, I would be in favor of aborting a fetus that had a serious medical defect.

I also don’t have a problem with aborting over trivial things like eye color or height. Biomass means nothing to me. What I care about are minds.

Now, things get complicated with gender. If only a tiny percentage of the population engages in it then no big deal. But if it became very common it could seriously mess up societies. Abortion itself doesn’t hurt anyone (and to me you need a mind to actually be someone) but mass gender selection would result in actually worsening other people’s lives, which means it becomes a candidate for regulation in my book.

Re: Would You Abort A Special Needs Baby?

Yes, I'd abort a baby with down syndrome. That's not the kind of parenting experience I want, and it wouldn't be fair to my other kids.

Re: Would You Abort A Special Needs Baby?

Yes, I would abort a fetus with Down Syndrome. While those afflicted with the disorder are often kind, loving and compassionate people, I think it's wrong to bring them into a world where they can never compete with normal individuals. With intensive social and skill training, they can just "get by" but that's not good enough, in my opinion.

A KNOWN THING. Not actually a big deal in the long run. In the mid-term there could exist a gender imbalance (seems to be the case in China and India these days, because of years of gender-associated abortions), but that just makes the less-common gender rarer and more valuable, and so in the long run we can expect the gender ratio to even-out again.

The trouble is, even if you successfully ban it people can always lie as to why they want the abortion.
NEVER NECESSARY. It is known that an unborn human acts in a way that would cause an adult to be arrested and imprisoned. They steal biological resources from another human's body. They dump toxic biowastes into another human's body. And they infuse addictive and mind-altering substances into another human's body. Those actions clearly make abortion a legitimate act of self-defense, by any woman who refuses to tolerate being assaulted via those actions. No woman ever need lie about wanting an abortion, when the Facts are so relevant.

AS FOR THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD, see above. A defective fetus might be an additional reason to abort, but it never needs to be the primary reason.

As with every abortion this would be up to the woman who is pregnant. For myself however (Being male) I would discuss it with the mother and offer up my opinion (abortion) while accepting whatever she decided. I would point out to her that my participation in the upbringing will be tainted and limited depending on her choice. Likely the relationship would not recover and she would end up a single mom with a special needs child.

To answer the Title question:
yes most likely (if i was a woman)
as a man i would suggest it with my partner for sure

to address the bill:
As long as its in the legal time frame I don't care what the mothers reason is, its none of my business or concern
Secondly again if its within the legal time frame any restrictiveness will face constitutional scrutiny and or at least fall victim to precedent as it should.

It is not murder unless you are violating a law. Murder is a specific legal term. It literally means "unlawful killing of a human". It has to be unlawful.
