You can't boil that lobster, but you can abort that babt.

I thought I was personally against abortion...

But damn, if I was pregnant with a lobster.....I would abort that critter before it got big enough to pinch its way out.

What a horrifying thought.

So because a lobster can feel pain when being tossed into a pot of boiling water it is now forbidden in Switzerland? But their laws on abortions where many believe the fetus can feel pain doesn't coincide with their thinking with lobsters. Do I have that right?

Here in Ohio we have been passing laws due to when a fetus can actually feel pain. You know the OP has a significant point.

People now in Switzerland are more concerned over the pain of a lobster than a fetus. A friggin lobster gets more respect than a human fetus.

Well let us just mark another steller example of the total moral decay of the human race. And so many wonder why there has been such a decline in society in general over the respect of human life......

Actually boiling them may be the fastest, most pain free way to kill them. But,

Sentient might be stretching it a bit. Afterall a lobster's really an oversized bug. Albeit a tasty oversized bug.

More sentient and tastier than broccoli.

Do anti abortion peopel really want to talk about abortion?

YOu can't have an abortion, but if you have the baby screw you, we won't help you or do anything to help you keep the baby. YOur children should starve.

You can't have an abortion, but we refuse to teach you how to prevent unwanted pregnancy and we will try to defund and close.

you can't have an abortion, but I don't want my tax dollars going to help starving kids

It is sick to kill an animal by burning them a live. The lobster is more aware than an early fetus, so the comparison is dumb. It's funny how many of the people against killing something with no higher brain function, at the same time go out and kill thinking, breathing, feeling animals for fun.

Nice rhetoric, but -as usual- it's false. Christian organizations financially and emotionally support women who choose to keep or adopt their babies. They also teach abstinence before marriage and monogamy after marriage... And they have fed more starving children than the food stamp program ever has... So, eat your lobster and shut up.

Can you show proof that Christian orgs feed more children than SNAP? That is some data I would love to see.

Let's see... 2000 years of worldwide charity work vs. an American government program from 1961...

The answer is easy, there is no LOBSTER forum!

Oh stop it.

There's a FOOD forum.
There's an International Politics forum with a section specifically for Europe.
There are at least two or three other places this thread could have easily gone if it were "about the lobster".

YOU connected it to abortion.
You're the one posting idiotic nonsense, and you did it for a very specific reason.

The stupidity here falls 100% on you.

abstinence

Yeah, that works really well....

In absolute terms you're probably right. Hardly makes for a relevant comparison. How many Americans have Christian organizations fed since 1961?

Oh, you want to go back into the past, do ya? I suspect they burned more heretics at the stake, especially in places like the Caribbean, then children they fed.

I've never seen such a huge amount of dummies on one site. Not that any of you are dummies, just that I've seen lots on this site. This is about morons protecting the feelings of a lobster.

No. Way to go for missing the point by a country mile.

And you know this how?

This is how:

While the presence of thalamocortical fibers is necessary for pain perception, their mere presence is insufficient—this pathway must also be functional. It has been proposed that transient, functional thalamocortical circuits may form via subplate neurons around midgestation, but no human study has demonstrated this early functionality. Instead, constant SEPs appear at 29 weeks’ PCA, and EEG patterns denoting wakefulness appear around 30 weeks’ PCA. Both of these tests of cortical function suggest that conscious perception of pain does not begin before the third trimester.

They can boil them, they just have to stun them insensate first. Like how over here, we have to stun cattle, pigs etc insensate before string them up and slicing their throats.

No you haven't. The fetus cannot feel pain at 20 weeks.

Elective abortion in Switzerland is legal only until 12 weeks.

Comparing that is a little dishonest, don't you think? How about comparing the two from 1961 to present?

Do you have sources for the bold?

And while such organizations do offer support, if they dont feed and house the mother and child/children, it's not enough to keep them off of public assistance if she's not working for a living wage.

Oh please, let's keep this relevant.

Does anyone on this board have the least bid of humor? Some comments made by me are clearly jokes, of course I know how to block someone and of course I didn't block anyone, it's a joke, god!

As for some of the "links" that state a fetus doesn't feel pain, how about something respectful to draw from. It is mu opinion that both a baby and the mother feel pain, yet we must protect the lobster. Just chop it's head off already, time to eat.

Really, there's a food forum on this board, seriously did not see or expect that.

You should visit the food forum. I've come across some fantastic cooking tips on there.

As for the blocking thing, I don't know about anyone else, but I've seen too many retards online that brag about how many people they've blocked for me to assume that was a joke.
