Male Contraception News

Nobody is infringing on your freedom. Libertarianism is supposed to be about minimal govt intrusion.
On the contrary, The amount of money taken away from my earnings impacts my freedom.

When you put in a layer to give away other people's money, then a system also need to be in place to minimize that impact on those it is taken from.

So... maybe we shouldn't be subsidizing the irresponsible! Let those who want to enable their irresponsibility give to them with charity type outlets.

how much of your person $25K plus taxes are going for unaffordable, unwanted, etc, etc, kids?

I don't know, but the total of social programs that would not be needed if people supported themselves is about 1/4 of the federal budget.

When people of poverty have kids, their children are most likely to live in poverty, and have children in poverty too.

I have little regard for irresponsible people. There are instances where chance just messes with responsible people. I have been knocked down several times in my life, but always got back on my feet. I went ahead at times and made use of programs designed as safety nets, just to find people making a life of it.

Pathetic...

Yet you want your tax dollars used to put something in the water supply to reduce everyone's sex drive.....

Oh, so *you* used others' tax dollars when it suited you but you don't want yours used to help others......

The problem is that the effect isn't reversible as far as we know. So it's not a good temporary option. And if you're looking for a permanent option, a vasectomy is more certain to work, has fewer side effects, and is possibly cheaper in the long run.

Bingo. I’d be happy to take the risk. Just want to make sure the peeps can keeps workin long term.

So if you had the power to wiggle your nose and and identify every irresponsible person (according to what you believe makes them irresponsible), and then make everybody act exactly like you believe they should then all would be right with the world?

In other words, you believe that all things are equal for all people - including opportunity to do anything that their hearts desire. Right?

LOL...

Not really, but some solution is needed. Preferable some way of instilling better responsibility, instead of rewarding irresponsibility.

Actually, I had floated a different idea some time back. It involves having a persons tubes tied if they conceived when when cannot afford to have children, and ask for government assistance. Both the father and mother. That way they cannot place that burden again, until they have enough money to pay for the reversal. The government handouts are given in exchange for the free medical procedure.

Oh, so *you* used others' tax dollars when it suited you but you don't want yours used to help others......

There is a difference from having a good job paying six figures, and being laid off and collecting temporary benefits like unemployment insurance, over those making a life on section 8 hosing, SNAP, etc.

I used the safety net as it was designed for, without abusing it.

If you can't see the difference, I don't know what to say, except, remain clueless.

Jumping to the extreme...

I'll bet you have a hard time with people not taking you as a joke.

I don't want to "make" anyone do any particular thing, except instill responsibility by not rewarding irresponsibility. Actually penalizing it at times.

You don't like my ideas? Fine. What is your solution?

AH, ANOTHER ONE IGNORANT OF THE US CONSTITUTION. Any American who supports that document should know These Very Simple Things:
1. It begins with the phrase "We the People"
2. It grants Congress the power to tax
3. It was signed by representatives of the People.

WHAT THAT MEANS IS EQUALLY SIMPLE: While in various other nation the taxes imposed by the government is equivalent to theft, in the USA it is something the People volunteered to pay, through their Constitutional Representatives. Therefore any Americans complaining about taxes as "money taken away from my earnings" are LYING, because any True Americans will understand that government needs to be paid-for, that taxes are Simply How It Is Done Here, and that taxes are Constitutionally Allowed by the People. And so, if you have an issue, it should be about the magnitude of taxes charged --for which your elected officials can be held responsible (and voted out of office if irresponsible) --you do know that the National Budget and associated tax laws get revised just about every year, don't you?

So what happens when 80% of the people are irresponsible, sucking the teat of the other 20%?

CAN YOU PROVE IT? Any hypocrite who wants to get paid for the work he (or she) does, but expects govt services to be free, needs to examine that hypocrisy carefully. Why aren't the govt workers as entitled as you, to payment for their labors, eh? The fact that you are partially paying for those labors, via taxes, should not have anything to do with your answer to that question. The possibility that you might disagree about whether or not various govt jobs deserve to exist at all...well, that is just another thing you can take to your Elected Representatives. Especially keep in mind, though, that others might disagree with you, about whether or not those jobs deserve to exist.

WHICH MEANS THIS: You should think of your taxes as paying for the govt jobs you think should exist (the armed forces, perhaps?), and you should think of others' taxes as paying for the govt jobs that they think should exist (like, say, Social Services). Because so long as it is impossible for your personal taxes to fully cover what you want of the govt, you have no rationale for thinking any of your taxes actually pay for anything you don't want of the govt.

I bet you have a hard time with me...I've had no complaint from others.

So you just rant about being an abused taxpayer. The amount of tax you pay isn't indicating that you'll use the "handout type social services". And most likely you won't be standing on the side of the highway with a cardboard sign asking for a handout. But you do take advantage of the system in one fashion or another.

You don't know specifically how your tax dollars are used to abuse you. You lump all of your woes under "social services".

Actually, I haven't see you state any viable ideas. Well, other than irresponsible people need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps, get it together, and stay out of your pocket.

DID NOT. My response was directly related to your Stupid Lie that the effects were not reversible. And the reason it was a Stupid Lie is: you failed to place any boundaries on your claim of irreversibility, even though there was a boundary (temporary use) explicitly stated in the article. FEARMONGERING! Take one pill and become sterile forever! Oh, my! Which is why idiot abortion opponents will ultimately lose the Overall Abortion Debate: they seem incapable of accepting any Fact that does not fit their agenda. Tsk, tsk!

ALSO SOMETHING YOU PREVIOUSLY FAILED TO MENTION. On the other hand, ibuprofen has been over-the-counter available for a long time, and the word "harm" allows for a wide range of magnitude. Here's some OLD news/fearmongering about that. Nevertheless, Even if the painkiller is the cause, at this time all the "permanent harm" so far caused is not preventing global human population from growing by maybe 80 million every year. Are you not aware that a man's fertility can be reduced by 50% (by, say, losing a testicle in an accident) and still be plenty for spawning offspring? If a guy really wants major-long-term contraception, he should see about getting something moderately drastic but reversible (maybe this, or this).

THE ARTICLE WAS PRETTY CLEAR THAT THERE WAS A DOSAGE RELATIONSHIP. Anyone reading it should have seen it, and therefore I didn't need to mention it.

Wow, you are super defensive about this for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

THEN YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ALL THE WAYS THE THINGS YOU SAY CAN GET TWISTED. Or all the ways you can be falsely accused of stuff. Or both. I'm sure I haven't seen them all, either, but I've seen enough to know they cannot go unchallenged.

Dude, seriously take a chill pill.

Will the current trend stop? How long will it take as we support more and more people with tax dollars?
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE, for idiot "political conservatives" to stop insisting extra mouths-to-feed must get born? Because that particular hypocrisy, living in a society where folks are generally expected to pay for what they want, but abortion opponents insisting others must pay for what abortion opponents want --that particular hypocrisy is as much a problem as the greed of those same folks, running businesses trying to eliminate competition, and thereby profiteering/restricting/making-more-expensive access to the resources needed to support people.

I simply want to stop paying for other people's irresponsibility. Why do you support irresponsibility?

ALTERNATE CHALLENGE (to what I posted in #46): Prove that the things you call "irresponsible" are things that everyone agrees with you are "irresponsible".

Why do you support irresponsibility?
I DON'T. Abortion is a perfectly responsible way to deal with an unwanted pregnancy, which might be a result of imperfect contraceptives. And I don't mind a bit if the govt spends money to help abortions happen. Because, otherwise, the govt would have to spend vastly more than that to subsidize raising unwanted children. (And when the govt doesn't spend that "vastly more" money, this is what happens.)

Correction Mundo...regarding the highlighted. And I agree with the balance of your comments.
