For teen girls, abortion linked to better outcomes vs. giving birth

*quick edit*
If I may in the most respectable way possible. While I respect your statement that women do enjoy it and do not generally use it as a triumph..... there are some women that use it as a tool, and use it in the most despicable ways as well. As a Male I can admit my flaws, but women sometimes have their ways with it too.

Agreed and usually takes 2 to have consensual sex. Like I stated in my first post... They all Lie (men).....laughing while still trying to be serious. (hence the comedian)

That is my point of correlating sex as 2 parts. Self Satisfaction and Reproduction. Its a verb that is used for 2 parts but has 2 ultimate consequences. You have a baby intentionally or you DONT have a baby intentionally. Both of which are choice a person has to live with for taking part in the VERB, Sex.

Having sex without respecting what it is, is partly the reason why we have abortions in the first place. Again going back to my initial premises, teaching our children to respect sex for what it is so they DO NOT have to make the difficult choice to abort or not abort.....

Pretty much covered all that:

It is society that has tried to change it, mold it, misuse it, abuse it, use it for manipulation, profit, and it has created many unnatural behaviors and beliefs. Some are positive and enable us to live together better as a society, some are destructive, like treating sex like it's a bad thing and should be hidden.

Why is the sex driver strong?

It is nature.

As for contraceptives. Again Under age sex? Does anyone but me find this disturbing? I learned an amazing lesson from my sister... YES my sister... she said, if I was not old enough, or mature enough to go to the store and buy condoms. I was not responsible enough to have sex. That suck with my for LIFE.... I plan to share this with my children when they become of age.

So, you want people that you deem to be irresponsible to be parents and raise children.

Have no idea what this has to do with my post.

I agree the drive is strong, I believe that sex is not something special anymore, its not meant to held dear to someone like it used to be

It was never meant to be. That is a condition humans put on it, not nature.

Children again are a byproduct of Sex....but many people seem to think its ok because abortion is a simple option.

its an option sure..... but wouldnt it just be easier to be more responsible and NOT get pregnant, then have to make the decision like an abortion in the first place? its like I have 2 choice, touch the stove and get burnt or not to touch the stove..... pretty straight forward right

unfortunately sex is so much more important than that

No pro choicer here is advocating that people have sex without contraception when they don't want to be pregnant/cause a pregnancy.

This may be true, but I think it would be more effective to focus on teaching people responsible behaviors.

Which is why some areas have comprehensive sex ed in school, which is proven to be more effective than abstinence only education.

Romancing the act of murdering the innocents makes me noxious.

Anytime I hear about how there were "no negative effects" from getting an abortion, I know it's BS.

Do you think a law against abortion will stop abortions?
How old are you? Do you remember news stories about women dying badly in underground abortion clinics? That's why abortions are safely and legally available- not as some uncaring form of post-coitus birth control but because women were suffering and dying in bad circumstances.
Which offends you worse? A better question- what can you do to help rectify it?

The sad thing is, there are some pro-life people (generally they claim they are Christians...but hard to believe) that believe that those women deserve that pain and death for having the abortion. THere are a few here that have posted this.

This is actually a bad thing for conservatives. For them, girls doing well is a disaster. Girls are supposed to marry old men and give birth to a half-dozen children.

Excuse me? I am a conservative and girls doing well is not a disaster as far as I am concerned. No, I don't believe "girls are supposed to marry old men and give birth to a half-dozen children" which has nothing to do with me being against abortion.

I don't know about that...I think it's probably true...morals have gone to hell in a handbasket...young girls are misled to believe there is nothing wrong with abortions...that explains the lack of remorse/repercussions...

The women I have discussed this with *have experienced negative consequences in their lives from abortion. Of course most are not from the current generation so, they haven't been programmed.

Most women I know that have aborted have no negative affects. The one that does regret hers was coerced into it by the father, a married minister who was head of the local "Right to Life" chapter. She almost died as it was an underground abortion.

There are still abortions in backrooms for those who can't afford it.

I'm 60 and have discussed this with many of those who have experienced abortion.

Raise your kids right and teach them well. Try to instill God into their lives.

Can you show some stats on this?

Likely it is NOT because they cannot afford it....but they are not available in their area .

Abortions are relatively inexpensive.

No drug or alcohol use, no depression or anxiety, no relationship issues?

I don't believe anyone can be totally callus that they are immune from such an act.

From the Reuters article:

"The risk of psychiatric disorders and drug overdose by age 25 was similar for those who had an abortion and those who gave birth."

How can this be?

My point exactly. Could be they were already experiencing mental and abuse issues before getting pregnant but, going through an abortion would likely cause the greater harm, IMO.

If you're too poor to get proper medical help, you don't need to be having unprotected sex.
The article seemed to focus on women inducing abortion themselves.,,,not back alley.

And frankly....if I am reading the article correctly the article talks about needing to travel to get an abortion. In Texas...why might a woman need to travel to get an abortion?

Hmmm.....

And realistically. Birth control fails. Are you assuming that women who have abortions don't use birth control?

And seriously.....not having adequate health care? It is an issue that encompasses people across the US....whether it is for heart disease, cancer, broken bones, or prevention services.

Then personal responsibility must be at the forefront.

What gave you the impression that I was advocating abstinence only?

Responsible behaviors include consistently and correctly using contraceptives....

It's sad - these young girls are probably looking to abortion for some kind of relief or benefit, a great freedom of some kind that would better their position in life. It appears that at least for mental health and drug dependency, the benefits fail to materialize.

Why is the sex driver strong? Media, Society.... sex sales now... as adults and what we allow our children to find acceptable is partly our responsibility. Our responsibility to educate our children. To just blame and say "Sex drive is strong" is a cop out.

It's not a "cop-out". Now, society in the past has tried to shun sex as if it's a bad thing.

Anyways... again.... I agree the drive is strong, I believe that sex is not something special anymore, its not meant to held dear to someone like it used to be. Children again are a byproduct of Sex....but many people seem to think its ok because abortion is a simple option.

That's not true at all. Lots of people are more open when it comes to sexual stuff now, but that doesn't make sex any less "special" that it already is. It's certainly special to me.

YES I agree..... reproduction is, You are correct, but if we take society back a couple of steps..... Is Sex not treated more like a triumph rather than a bond like it used to be?

Maybe some people see it as a triumph, but who gives a **** if they do? People can view sex whoever they wish. I view it as an intimate bonding experience, but that's just me.

Sex is a great thing, very enjoyable. Women do like to enjoy it and, as far as I know, do not generally use it as a 'triumph' and DO still look for bonding.

I cannot speak for men but the whole 'triumph' thing sounds more like a male thing.

Definitely sounds like a male thing.
