Pro-Lifers: What about frozen embryos?

This question is just for those who think that embryos should have human rights and that abortion should be illegal.

If you got your way, what do you think should happen to frozen embryos? Is it ok to destroy unused ones? Should the biological mother be forced to bring each of them to term? Should prisoners be forced to bring them to term or offer them time off if they do? What if the frozen embryo is tested and has a genetic defect? Should someone still be forced to bring it to term?

"Fozen embryo" may not be the right term but I am basically talking about any fertilized human egg that is not currently inside a womb.

Snowflake babies. People do actually these babies implanted and carried to term. My pastor's wife just gave birth to twin snowflake boys.

Why stop at frozen? Why not any embryo. Each time a woman has a period an egg is lost and so is that life. Women should be continually pregnant from puberty.

I personally am avidly pro-choice. But I have never met a pro-life person who claims an unfertilized egg or a sperm are persons.

No, that is more the fallacy of them arguing that it is an issue about life. They claim life begins when sperm meet eggs. But fail to say what is the state of egg an sperm, dead or alive.

....but becomes real, when the embryos are created in vitro.

That might be a confusion of terminology. Actually, there is a Sin of Onan that is not, as far as I know as grave as murder, but sin all the same. But the main confusion is that there are indeed situations of out of womb embryos during the in vitro process and for stem cell research that are destroyed.

How about the idea that any medical professional that harvests them, is required to maintain them indefinately until we have more knowledge on "when does life begin"

It would be an expensive proposition... Reduce unnecessary harvesting.

Didn't you learn basic biology?

It isn't a zygote yet, until fertilized.

Now past basic biology, a zygote doesn't become an embryo until it goes through the stages of blastula, gastrula, and organogenesis.

Totally true. And they shouldn't be allowed to vote. I mean, any discussion of pro-life should immediately go to the extreme cases and absurdities, because pro-lifers just want women to be property.

There are prolifers that want some forms of contraception made illegal because it is causing a "baby" to be aborted.

Many of these contraceptives are dangerous to women and cause cancer and serious health problems. Wanting contraceptions illegal has nothing to do with the abortion issue and everything to do with protecting the health of women.

Risks and benefits are what a doctor discusses with his or her patient. It is not for you to decide.

You are incredibly naïve if you think that the prolifers that want some contraception illegal want it for the good of the woman. Give me a break. When I hear this discussion...it is always about those forms of contraception being "abortofacient".

If they actually cared about the woman, they would leave health care decisions between a woman and her doctor.

Are you denying facts and the fact these contraceptives are killing women?

Women need to be aware of these things. Did you know women are getting cancer from Talc Powder as well?

Well, they go way too far, and are an extreme minority. To even acknowledge such an insignificant group is legitimizing them. They should be ignored. What does it tell you of the pundits when they use such an insignificant group?

I don't want women getting heart attacks, strokes, cancer or becoming infertile. Women are not guinea pigs for pharmaceutical companies.

There's about 50 more serious legal issues impacting women, men, and societies if personhood existed for any stage of the yet to be born.
