Oregon is giving free "abortions" for all

I would agree abortion should be seperated from health care. I think however for issues like cancer, we have a shared interest in paying for that.

In terms of this thread, the "we" are the residents of Oregon. It is what they agree on.......

If you consider what I did to be "hijacking" , then you hijacked your own thread. You took the thread down a path about paying taxes for things we do not agree with. And now you are butt hurt because I expanded on YOUR line of thinking.

Fact of the matter is as tax payers we pay for things we may be morally against. We can attempt to elect officials that that will respect out POV but nobody will ever be completely happy...so the best we can do is to live out own lives in a way that respects our personal morality.

And back to the matter at hand. Oregon elected officials that have allowed this to happen. Since this is a state and not a federal issue, I have to wonder what the voters of Oregon feel. I also have to wonder if abortion rates will stay about the same or drastically increase.

I will hope that they also will be financially helping out lower income women who wish to avoid abortion with assistance with the most effective contraception (long term forms).

Obviously it will dramatically increase. I am unsure how you can argue it will dramatically decrease.

Pregnancy is condition that has inherent risk.

People that choose abortion frequently have substandard access to medical care, are barely able to make ends meet. Loss of a paycheck could be the difference between paying rent and potential eviction. It could mean inability to pay phone bills, utilities and such. If you think substandard access and marginal employment do not increase risk in pregnancy....you are dead wrong.

Most of these people get their rent subsidized through the government.

Absolutely absurd. Free abortions with no deductibles or co-payments. Not only will more lives be killed, but taxpayers and insurance companies will be funding this monstrosity of legislation.

*Increase the cost of health care
*Increase the number of deaths
*Force people against their religious beliefs and principles.

Oregonians, I apologize.

Well then for sure there is no need to fund Planned Parenthood in Oregon.

If we do then it should be easy to pass an amendment giving the govt the power to take my money and spend it on such things. Im personally not convinced, but I would adhere to a consensus according to the rules of 3/4 state approval.

I never argued that it would dramatically decrease. Where did you get that silly notion?

First of all, back up your claim that most get their rent subsidized by the government....

Federal funds are not used for elective abortion. I am not sure how your comment makes sense.

I read through the information and my statement still stands.

And yet you still show now facts to back up your statement.

Typical.

Of course they are. The receiving agency can say the federal funds they receive are for other things and show it that way on their books, but it is absurd to say that the low prices Planned Parenthood charges for abortions are not as a result of them being heavily subsidized for other, usually very marginal and inconsequential and inexpensive, services they say that they provide.

Planned Parenthood is charging lower prices for abortions because they are not in the profit model of care. They are looking to provide a service, not buy a vacation home or such.

An abortion is a pretty uncomplicated procedure. Most abortion does not require highly specialized expensive equipment, anesthesiologists, expensive equipment packages, etc. It requires a doctor and assistant and a few items and a few 5 or 10 minutes of a doctors time. Sure, if you go to a freestanding private short stay surgery center or hospital to have an abortion and use your private gynecologist, you can possibly jack up that price 5 or 10 fold. Are you faulting Planned Parenthood for keeping all of their cost down...or just abortion?

I was not discussing the pros and cons of abortion. I was discussing federal funding of Planned Parenthood and how a law like Oregon just passed makes Planned Parenthood unnecessary and therefore doesn't warrant federal funding.

Could we focus on that please?

That is from your mindset that Planned Parenthood is primarily an abortion facility.

Here is what the Portland facility offers

They provide timely convenient appointments that if a woman or man is going through the county system, they may have to wait weeks or months.

sure, share why your claim is FACTUALLY true?
Why would this law make medical facilities unnecessary and or negate their need for federal funding?

As best I can determine, taxpayers subsidize roughly 24% of all abortion costs in the U.S. with 6.6% borne by federal taxpayers and the remaining 17.4% picked up by state taxpayers. If we apply the 24% figure to the total number of abortions, this is equivalent to taxpayers paying the full cost of 250,000 abortions a year, with about 70,000 financed by federal taxpayers and 180,000 financed by state taxpayers.

These figures are very rough but certainly are more accurate than subjective guesses on either side of this fierce debate.

Oregonians, I apologize.

Good, health care shouldnt be excluded from health insurance simply because some peoples feelings disagree with it.
With that said there are financial restriction laws on the books that this my push the limits of or violate (i honestly dont know), if thats the case then this bill must be repealed or the best cases change those financial laws because they are stupid.

*facts to prove these claims please, thanks!

What I do know AGENT J, is raising taxes will not make healthcare better.

1) Anything life-threatening, chronic, catastrophic should be covered and paid through your taxes.

2) Everything else should go through the private sector.

The HealthCare industry is overly regulated and confusing. We need to remove the state lines and bureaucracy. ObamaCare is 2,300 pages. Our Health Care plan should be explained in 1-5 pages.

That is how to fix healthcare. Not to make abortions tax deductible and increase our taxes to pay into a system that doesn't work!

SO you dont have anything that backs up your claims and makes them true. Got it, i figured as much but just wanted to confirm. thanks!

That is what THEY say they offer. Those who have left the organization tell a much different story. The fact is, Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest abortion provider. It gets just under 1/2 of its total funding from the government and derives most of the rest of its funding via providing abortions.
Planned Parenthood?s Taxpayer Funding: Myths and Realities | National Review

So once again, since Oregon is giving free abortions and Medicaid and private insurance covers all the other procedures of which Planned Parenthood doesn't do that much, there isn't much justification for all the millions the tax payer sends to Planned Parenthood in Oregon.

Reading dysfunction much? I didn't say anything about making medical facilities unnecessary nor did I discuss federal funding regarding those.
