― Republicans are trying to find a way to defund Planned Parenthood as part of an overall effort to limit abortion in America. But doing so had the opposite effect in Texas, according to a new study out of Texas A&M University.

The study, conducted by economics professor Analisa Packham, shows that in the first three years after Texas Republicans slashed the family planning budget in 2011 and shut down more than 80 women’s health clinics, the abortion rate among teenagers in the state rose 3 percent over what it would have been had the clinics remained open. After cutting Planned Parenthood out of the state’s subsidized women’s health program, then-Gov. Rick Perry (R) said his “goal” was to “ensure abortions are as rare as possible under existing law.” But the move actually interfered with an overall downward trend in abortions in Texas.

It's hard to find an example of an action so incredibly counter-productive to the desires of the people who thought of it. Anyone that truly wants as few abortions as possible in America should value sex education, easy access to contraception, and support for Planned Parenthood.

So all the supporters of planned parenthood didn't pick up the slack? Well, that is shocking. You know people, you don't have a right to force people to support your causes. If you support planned parenthood put your money where you mouth is instead of demanding I pick up your slack.

When I'm against the killing of the unborn I always make sure to support the funding of organizations that kill more of the unborn than anyone else.

Oh wait....no I don't.

Entirely up to the state of Texas. They'll do what they want and live with the consequences. Of course, the conservatives there will hold their hands in the air and complain that somebody on the left didn't do more to work around the stupidity.

Planned Parenthood is a private organization, you know. In case you didn't know private organizations are supposed to live off the funding they get from private individuals, not the government. If you support planned parenthood then you should fund them voluntarily.

If you were truly against killing the unborn, you would support access to free and effective birth control.

Ill just basically repose the same thing i posted in another thread:

Said it before and Ill say it again. PP is arguably more responsible for limiting unwanted pregnancies (less abortions) than any other agency in america. The witch hunt and hate against them is purely illogical, retarded and without basis it cracks me up how stupid it is. Many PPs dont even do abortions. In my state the vast majority of them certainly do not. SO I wonder what the majority of them do, oh that's right they help plan for and educate about parenthood or avoiding it with sex education, access to birth control, education on options when one is pregnant and many other medical services. SMH but yes its very funny irony, sometimes peoples hate and bias simply blinds them to logic facts and reality. Its comical.

If you want to be against abortion fine but maybe not be so stupid about it that you are part of the problem and help cause what you don't want. Reminds me of the people that violate the rights of others creating legal avenues to make equal rights even stronger and they they are shocked. Dummies LOL
