I'M TALKING ABOUT THE TOTAL EXTINCTIONS OF HUNDREDS OF ENTIRE SPECIES EVERY YEAR (and that article I linked, in the msg you quoted, indicates that the death rate could be severely underestimated). Have you never heard the saying, "variety is the spice of life"? What sort of "life" do you want our descendants to have, if the only species on the planet are humans and bacteria? No grass or flowers or bees or cats or dogs or birds or trees or fish or butterflies or manatees, mostly because they all consist of "biomass", and for a voracious omnivorous and technologically capable growing human population, all biomass is food.

FACT DENIAL ADMITTED, therefore. One of the most-typical things I've seen abortion opponents do is Generically Denounce data they don't like, such as by calling it "trash". They always **fail** to provide any evidence whatsoever, to support the claim that the data they don't like actually qualifies for the denigration they blathered. Basically, it just means they lack the integrity to admit they are wrong. Tsk, tsk!

You do know there are prochoice conservative women and prolife liberal women - right?....or do you just assume you can't be prolife if you are liberal or prochoice if you are conservative? Where do you get your ideas about women....you never support your views with actual facts.

You said women should be more careful not to have unwanted pregnancies and I explained US women are making that effort and are using artifical birth control consistently and correctly.

Unfortualy the artifacts birth control most of the very poor can afford has the highest typical use failure rate.

In fact this thread points out the fact that half of all abortions in the U.S. are due to failed contraception.

Penetration sex is not like food. You don't die without it.
Also, the solution to unwanted pregnancy needn't be abortion. It's just easier.

My dear hubby and I have been happily married over 40 years.

I was a virgin when we married and he is my one and only love.

We are hoping to both live long enough to celebrate our 50 anniversary together.

If you don't like abstinence, then organize society to handle the unwanted children or get sterilized or face the consequences etc.. But we have taken the easy way out.

You call abortion the easy way out , but that's wrong.
The easy way out is to do nothing.
That's one of the reasons there so many crack babies and neglected children.
It's easier just to continue and ignore the pregnancy and the little one.
Those pregnant women just don't care.

I was abstenent before marriage.

That was my choice. I do not expect that of others.

I am not/ was not going abstain after my marriage just because I was afraid of a birth control failure. My marriage was more important to me then a possible birth control failure , also my staying alive after the birth to help raise our child was very important to me . During my first pregnancy I became so ill during my pregnancy that my kidneys were damaged and I became so anemic my doctor had the delivery room ready for a complete blood transfusion because he was concerned I might bleed to death during delivery. When they wheeled into delivery I did not know if I would live to see our baby. I risked my life because I wanted to give birth but once the baby was born I heeded my doctor's warning not to become pregnant again for a couple years until my body healed and my health risk was lower.

I wanted to be around to help raise our child so I made sure I used the birth control pills correctly and consistently and we very lucky we did not have an unplanned pregnancy.

Over 60 percent of women who have abortions have at least 1 born child.
