Lena Dunham says she never had an abortion but 'I wish I had'

If my mother had said she wished she'd had an abortion I certainly would be pretty pissed off.

As pissed off as if she had said she hadn't had sex? It's a fair question!

Yeah, I'd still be more pissed off if she said she wished she'd had an abortion.

What do you mean "she said she hadn't had sex"?

Had our moms aborted us, we wouldn't be here.

Had our moms not had sex that night, we wouldn't be here.

Both sets of choices would have resulted in our nonexistence.

Yeah, but it definitely feels a lot more personal if she said "I wish I aborted you/had an abortion/etc".

She's upset because some women were announcing proudly that they had abortions and she couldn't be part of it. Disgusting on all counts.

That is a ridiculous characterization.

So? Why are so many people triggered by her comment? I thought we were in an era where "political correctness" was a thing of the past.

Because it wasn't just an offensive comment, it was a rather dumb one.

An abortion is not something which should be taken lightly, and certainly not something that you should want to do.

Oh so there are acceptable reasons for people legally exercising their freedoms! Do tell me, what are those reasons?

What reasons I'd view abortion as okay?

In case of rape, incest, or in order to save the mother's life. Minors would have to get permission from their parent or guardian. Overall I think it should be allowed but socially discouraged, with emphasis placed on the alternative of adoption instead of having an abortion. It certainly shoudn't be something to take flippantly or claim that they "always wanted one".

Derp, I meant to say that it sounds like there acceptable reasons to get triggered when people legally exercise their freedoms. I wonder what those reasons are?

Yeah, so? Your mom not getting pregnant in the first place is quite different than your mom killing you.

You're comparing a desire being expressed by your mother that shows she has zero regard for you, doesn't love you, and would rather you be dead to your mother just never getting pregnant. How in the hell is that comparable? Why in the hell would you be cool with your mom saying something like "I wish I killed you"?

Really! Is that right.

Really! Is that right.

Yes, it is. Why would you be ok with your mother expressing a desire that she aborted you? I guess in your world it's perfectly cool for your mother to wish she killed you.

I want to hear it for myself. People have claimed that someone said something, then when you listen to the video, they didn't (ie. Hillary on late term abortion).

I'm pretty content with reading the quote. It gives enough context to makes sense of the controversial sentence in question for me to get the gist of where she was going, which I tried my best to explain in a few posts above.

Some people don't give up their intellectual or moral integrity due to what genitalia they have. Obviously, you are not one of those people.

She rubs men wrong. That's obvious. And, I can definitely see why.

Would it make you feel better inside if I copied and pasted Josie's post?

Yes, I've already pointed out your intellectual and moral integrity is neutered. No need for you to point it out again.

False equivalency.

One is never being created, that is nonexistence.

One is having been created then killed.

Again. Who gives a ****? If you do, explain yourself.

You don't need to be a woman to realize Lena Dunham is despicable.

Why? She never had an abortion. Shouldn't you be worshiping her?
