A New Study Says Abortion Doesn't Harm Mental Health

What do you mean there is no victim?

She means she thinks nothing of the innocent human being who is needlessly killed.

Bigotry is an ugly thing, isn't it?

Hopefully you're not as obsessed with the killing of the innocent.

FWIW, I've known a number of women who have suffered mentally from abortion.

I think that you may yet get there.

Not just ugly, my good god fearing friend, but the worst. Man, and woman's inhumanity to man.

really disgusting

“We found no evidence that women who have abortions risk developing depression, anxiety or low self-esteem as a result of the abortion, either immediately following, or for up to five years after the abortion,” said M. Antonia Biggs, a social psychologist at the University of California, San Francisco and lead author on the study, in a statement.

And here we have yet another study showing that abortion does not harm a woman's mental health. Laws forcing doctors to tell patients it does violate the right to free speech and should be struck down.

I don't recall there ever being any proof that it ever did. Everything I always read was always dishonest spin. It was never a direct result of abortion. It made as much sense as saying seeing blondes makes a particular guy feel depressed so blondes must cause depression. But leaves out the fact that the love of his life was a blonde and she left him and cheating on him. So blondes remind him of that. Thats VERY key, important and HONEST info that the nonsensical and dishonest false claims about abortion = depression NEVER talked about.

I don't really care about what these studies show or don't show, but I have a couple of thoughts:

1. If no evidence of depression does that really mean that the depression does not exist, or could it mean that the depression can't be found and that could be found later.
2. Has anybody looked at the political leanings of the author of this study (I haven't).

Thank you.

Just because you don't like the report does not make it "pro-abort propaganda."

This paper relies on patient surveys, isn't that a problem for you?

In addition, 'A total of 956 women completed baseline interviews, representing a participation rate of 37.5% of eligible women who consented to participate. Of participants who completed a baseline interview 1 week after abortion seeking, 92% (n=880) were retained at the 6-month follow-up, 76% (n=727) at 2 years, 68% (n=653) at 3 years, and 65% (n=618) were retained at 4 years. Rates of attrition at 4 years did not differ significantly by study group.'

65% retention rates after four years. If you all had shown me a study with that kind of retention instead of one with over a 60% drop out rate, I would probably have STFU.

Right, and patient surveys? Subjective?

I would think with emotional/mental health that subjectiveness is wear it is at.

It is about how they are "feeling" which is highly subjective.

I have said this before. Unwanted pregnancy in and of itself is stressful to some extent. While an untended pregnancy may have great potential for being "joyful".....an UNWANTED pregnancy can range from simple stress to downright devastating.

The poster that I directed the comment to knows exactly where I am coming from, I tend to agree with you but, let's see where it goes. :)
