What is the motive

- for all of the Federal and State Legislatures who have ever existed

- and for all of the Supreme Court Justices who have ever existed

- to damn men with biased laws against them - regarding several reproductive issues?

No significant Supreme Court decision regarding reproductive rights have been made, which involved women Justices on the panel of the Court other than ONE. The only other case outside of Roe v Wade - related to abortion - with a female Justice on the panel was in 1992 in the Planned Parenthood v Casey with Sandra Day O'Connor being the only female Justice sitting on the bench.

There's no record of any significant Congressional laws passed in eons that are even related to abortion (although there's been many attempts that can get past the S.C).

State's do have the right to regulation abortion within the boundaries of the Constitution and that of course involves decisions as to the Constitutionality of the Texas case known as Roe v Wade, followed by the next most important related case I named above.

States also have an obligation to abide by and protect both the US Constitution and their respective Constitutions.

Each State devises their own laws with regard to parent child relationships, which also include laws regarding child support.

If one did some serious research, I would bet that over the last 50 years - most every type of State and Federal law related to abortion, child/parent relationship cases (which involve child support) - the vast majority of the legislature member and Judicial members who have either enacted or adjudicated cases related to these issues - HAVE BEEN MEN.

So again I ask: What is the motive by all of these government bodies to purposely be so punitive to men with regard legal issues related to reproduction? What is the need for such a conspiracy - and how could it be so cleverly carried out for decades?

There is no motive... it is just sexism. The Family Courts are the same way. People like you think that it is fine.

It's not fine and it's changing to be more favorable, more equal, for men.

Change doesnt happen overnight but the need has been acknowleged and acted on.

Men shouldnt act like such victims about this. Women have been victims of sexism....forever. For example, think about how hard it was to enter the workplace on equal footing? It still isnt equal. I guess it's just a shock for men, who have had all the power and control...forever.

I know women who were the breadwinners in their families getting "the man treatment". As a couple they worked excessive OT to achieve mutual goals....and when divorced they are expected to keep up that level of overtime to pay huge monthly support...and because of the excessive hours during marriage - their custody is in jeopardy.

Like I said, they system should be set up to be more fair. Heck...how about this...the only one that gets a lawyer is the kid.;)

I think it is a distraction from how virtually all foreign-policy and war policy of the candidates are the same, and gives something to present to the public as a differentiation illusion.

I agree!

Lursa, I knew this thread would die quickly.

Gosh, a whole 7 posts, 1 of which has something to do with foreign policy...and Bod said, sexism, which is odd since most of the support laws have been established by men.

So now CRICKETS on the motive for the disparities so that we lay blame where it needs to be laid. Even guest readers in DP aren't even reading this thread because it didn't make its way into having a reasonable amount of exchanges.

And to be honest, I know why there hasn't been that much discussion. Nobody can actually state what the motives are for the disparities that exist.

Men have been so brutalized by unfair laws related to reproduction, yet they can't really define any of the why's or who's. In other words, they just can't provide a motive for the disparities, which are real. But not a single person has devised a legit solution to.

They're not focusing on punishing men but advocating for the offspring of said men. What the hell is society supposed to do when a male abandons his offspring. Make the deadbeat pay for their child, that's what.

Exactly, if a child is born, you're right.

But there's another side of this that's a more profound form of thinking.

And that is: If a woman has the right to abort, and women do under the stage of viability. Ergo, some men believe that they should have the right to say to a woman, "I don't want to be a father, you have the right to abort prior to viability, so prior to viability, I should have the legal right to demand that either you abort or become a parent without my participation or financial support if you give birth.

Now, this belief has failed to get past the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals - and the Supreme Court refuses to hear the argument - because they claim that it is a legal fallacy. The Court says that a medical procedure can't be legally compared to a financial obligation. (women's abortion vs Financial Abortion).

State governments have an interests in fetuses past the stage of liability. So now they become way more in control in reproductive arguments between men and women after viability. The State has a Constitutional obligation to a born child to ensure it's welfare...and at the same time protect the interests of the taxpayers who must take on the cost of caring for children when parents fail to meet fundamental needs.

And as you might suspect, the men who subscribe to the abortion prior to viability object to the State having any interests in their reproductive affairs.

Bringing up past wrongs to one group as a justification for current wrongs to another group is retarded.

What if the man is black? Black men were treated far more poorly then white women, in America's history... see your failed logic?

Actually the vast majority of men didn't have any power or influence through all of history. Those men in power have pretty much always pushed their will on other men just like did with women. The child support issue is really a result of both sexism against women and views on children and men coming from those men in power.

Good point and worth repeating...

This is absolutely wild. Let's take a stroll back to the OP. So now you and Bod are claiming sexism is the MOTIVE perpetrated by men on men. Is this what you're saying?

That's not what I claimed. Historically only a small group of men made the rules for all of society. The claim that somehow only women had problems in the past created by these small groups of men in charge is false.

Pray tell, what is the reality here? Now you're headed into one giant conspiracy theory, Henrin.

What is the motive for all of the things I stated in the OP? And please refrain from going to La La Land for your info.

Still not a genuine motive posted to any of the questions laid out in the OP from any member.

A suggestion has been made that it is Sexism committed by men to men that is the demon. That is damn near an oxymoron. I say this because the Demon is LEGAL DISCRIMINATION, which really has zero to do with SEXISM with relationship to all of the legal disparities that men deal with regarding several reproductive issues.

Men need to learn to determine the difference between being discriminated against in an isolated context and being subject to a constant, sometimes obvious, sometimes subtle disadvantage that has plagued an entire gender group for centuries and across the board in all facets of daily life. I say men need to learn this because the reality is, men have never experienced all of what I said in my first sentence. Women always have, they still do today, and their knowing the difference is how they've survived sexism and discrimination since the beginning of our existence.

There is a lot of realities around gender discrimination that men will never have to be victim of. I can't even begin to list them all.

Wanna talk about financial problem women in general have - or single women with kids have:

Hell, a lot of companies commandeered by men, discriminate against women because they are subject to needing "maternity leave" or they are single and have a kid or two who might need special care like when they get sick and need to go to a doctor. Men don't have this problem...EVEN if they are single have conservatorship over children.

Who's really in power in this country?

It doesn't take a very deep look at the way our society operates to see that men hold the power. And I mean from the top echelons of society, down. Straight, white, middle class men are the most enfranchised group of people in the world.

As stated in the OP, MEN have always held the power in all of the parent/child relationship laws. <-------WHAT IS THEIR MOTIVES for discriminating against other men over the various related reproductive issues?

So even if an individual man feels marginalized once because of his gender (and I say once because how many times does it take a guy to figure out what's going on, chances are it's not a consequence that he subsequently lives his life at a disadvantage because of his gender. And even if he has massive disadvantages it might be because he is subject to constant discrimination due to other factors that have nothing to do with gender, like race, sexuality, religion, education, and economic status.

So again I ask: What is the motive by all of these government bodies to purposely be so punitive to men with regard legal issues related to reproduction? What is the need for such a conspiracy - and how could it be so cleverly carried out for decades?

I guess it's just a shock for men, who have had all the power and control...forever.

What power and control have I ever had regarding this issue?

I have had NONE. Most men alive now have had NO POWER. So, what is it that we are shocked about?

No. It is sexism veiled as being Politically Correct in order to maintain good PR.

IMO Nothing will change for women. Men will always get their way and there aren't that many female feminists around to educate young girls in their perceived view concerning of the ways of the world.
