Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

This wouldn't be an issue if abortion was illegal.

That isn't going to happen.

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

Have you consulted with Bob McDonnell?

No, but I was roundly calling for and hoping he'd veto that idiotic bill when my state tried to make it law.

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

This wouldn't be an issue if abortion was illegal.

And your question wouldn't be relevant if abortion was illegal.

But it's not, which is why you asked the question, so I'm not sure why attempting to counter someones argument by stating "It wouldn't be an issue if it was illegal" is somehow an actual answer

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

Men first ;) After all, them whores ain't gonna get pregnant without some sperm.

Trogan man:lamo that is my response to that statement.

Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

I'll be okay with that when everyone is required to look at the xray or ultrasound before getting their wisdom teeth removed, or their bowels resected, their appendix or gallbladder removed, or men have to see an u/s of their prostate before having it removed etc. etc. etc.

I am all for it.If it has the chance of changing a woman's mind I am for it. Heck even if it didn't have any chance of changing a woman's mind I would still be for it because it would be someone to make abortions cost a little bit more and in the long run its just another baby step towards severely restricting and or banning abortions.

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

Women should see the innocent human being they are taking away before they murder it. Regular murderers see the person they're killing before they kill him/her, why shouldn't the whores who get abortions see the fetus?

The Catholic Church does not judge or condemn women who have abortions. You might want to have a chat with your priest about your attitude toward them.

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

Maybe women should just stop being whores

Got any proof for your belief that all women who abort are getting paid for sex?

Pro-choicers, this is why we have to be ever vigilant and stand up for our rights. Anti choicers will try any pathetic tactic they think they can get away with to force us to gestate against our wills.

Its the same tactic the gun control/anti-gun crowd,anti-smoking groups and many other groups have been using for decades. A baby step here and baby step there.
Anti choicers will try any pathetic tactic they think they can get away with to force us to gestate against our wills.
It has nothing to do with forcing women to gestate against their wills. It has everything to do with making you sure women are not allowed to needlessly take the life on an innocent child. Seeing how on demand late term abortions are banned in many states and countries I would say the pro-life crowd is winning.

During a first month ultasound the only thing that will be seen is a yoke sac.

If you don't want to have a baby, don't have sex or use protection. It's that damn simple.

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

Women seeing the ultrasound saved a lot of lives. Why can't the women have the right to make an informed choice on whether or not to get an abortion

Studies have shown that women who are seeking an abortion have not changed their minds after seeing an ultrasound.

You seem to forget or perhaps you do not know that 61 percent of the women who have abortions already have at least one child.
They are making an informed decision.

Maybe you should stop using repulsive inflammatory and rude words for women you don't even know. I'm pretty sure the bible tells you to treat everyone with respect. I don't think Jesus would appreciate your attitude.

There is no form of birth control that is 100 percent effective during consentual sex at this time.

So no it is NOT that simple.
Married couples should not have to give the marriage bed because they fear there might be a birth control failure.

Na I would say the pro choice crowd is winning....around the world.

Most developed nations have abortion legal for at least the first trimester which is all that is needed since that is where the vast majority of abortions are performed.

Anything beyond the first trimester is just extra for the pro choice crowd.

I can see why most pro choicers would be against third trimester because the physical structure that allows consciousness which is the thalamo-cortical complex is placed between 24 and 28 weeks into gestation

Were these studies done by a medical association or by some biased pro life group on a website?

Of course it's not that simple, as people sometimes are forced to have sex against their will and other times protection fails.

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

no of course not

the government should not force a medical procedure/exam on citizens based on others moral reasons because thats a violation of rights and absolutely retarded.

Theres no sane logical reason to do so and violate rights like this.

Dude, I don't know if you've ever looked at one, but everything looks like a game of Pong from the 1970's on an ultrasound. Even an embryo in real life looks more like a tadpole in a lot of cases. Or sometimes is completely indistinguishable from the surrounding uterine tissue.

Besides that, why should women be forced to look at anything? Should you be forced to look at pictures of necrotic infected tissue before you can consent to an appendectomy? Or Chinese children with cancer who make and recycle the supplies used on you before you have some other medical procedure?

There is no purpose to it other than emotional manipulation. We have a word for that: it's called reproductive coercion, and it's considered to be a form of abuse.

It speaks volumes about you that you advocate abuse as policy.

So you're hoping women with unwanted pregnancies will be too poor to afford the extra expense of an ultrasound...

And what the hell do you think happens if they go through with the pregnancy? Kids cost a lot more than an abortion.

Evidence #456734976 that the anti-choice don't care about women or children.

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion? [W:

What should people be forced to view before they buy alcohol or cigarettes?
What should people be forced to view before they buy a car or swimming pool?
What should people be forced to view before they buy a boat?
What should people be forced to view before they get on an airplane?
What should people be forced to view before they buy a motorcycle?

Again, you staunchly anti-abortion people need to attack that problem from another angle.
Once a woman is pregnant it's too late.

You guys need to thoroughly get involved in the sex education and birth control side of things.
Prevent abortion by preventing unwanted and accidental pregnancy.

Be pro-active instead of reactive.

The ONLY way to stop abortion is to stop unwanted and accidental pregnancy. So fight that battle.

But if your only response to that is "abstinence", then I'll just roll my eyes and walk away shaking my head.

Re: Should women be required to look at an ultrasound before getting an abortion?

The studies I looked at say that women are less likely to get an abortion after seeing an ultrasound

There were 2 studies sited in the article I read that state Little Evidence Sonograms Change Minds:

The study, published in 2009 in the European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care, found that, when given the option, 72 percent of women chose to view the sonogram image. Of those, 86 percent said it was a positive experience. None changed their mind about the abortion.

In another study, this one published in 2009 in the journal Contraception, Wiebe analyzed how many women chose to look at the embryonic or fetal tissue removed during an abortion. Only about 28 percent of women were interested – "they're curious," Wiebe said – but of those, 83 percent said that viewing the embryo or fetus did not make the process more emotionally difficult.

And from another article:
If the goal is for women to rethink having an abortion, providers argue, it is not working. Clinic directors said they have not had a single woman change her mind in the 24-hour period between her sonogram and her abortion. Abortion opponents and advocates for crisis pregnancy centers say that anecdotally, they have not heard of any either.
