Why didn't Dm senators boycott?

Senators tend to represent a more diverse group of people (a whole state vs a district). As a result they tend to act more even keeled about such things. At least I think that is part of it. Members of the House are always doing wacky things.

It's obvious you don't !

C'mon... you wanted to open your mouth and share your advice for black people before...
Why are you so quiet now that I've put you on the spot?
Why don't you tell me what your "black friends" say.

A bunch of black people, working in concert to achieve political ends, is pretty intimidating to you, huh?
i don't care what color they are. A bunch of people wanting the pilot to crach and burn when we are all riding in the same plane is not helpful, constructive, commendable, acceptable, or smart.

Greetings, AlbqOwl. :2wave:

Well said, as usual! It doesn't appear to me at this point that Trump intends to keep secrets about what he intends to do - he showed the world today where he stands, IMO. Whether that's good or bad will become known soon enough!

Don't be melodramatic. Foregoing Trump's inauguration is nothing like "wanting the pilot to crash and burn".

Thanks Polgara. His speech this morning was both inspiring but caused me to cringe a bit because he was saying things that, so far as I know, no President has ever said. I could imagine the former administration, and everybody--Republican, Democrat, and Independent--in Congress bristling a bit. . .how dare he?!

But after thinking about it, I was thinking yeah! We hired him because he spoke what we were all thinking. And because we hoped he was one who wouldn't morph into the establishment as soon as he was safely elected. Well in that speech he signaled that he sure hasn't. And we Americans better start getting used to a President who doesn't care who he offends. He's going to speak the truth as he and we see it.

Their reasons for doing so was a direct signal they intended for him to crash and burn.

Repeating melodrama doesn't give it any more validity than it had before.
Consider this:

Maybe these men are simply expressing that their "#1 priority is to make this president a one-term president".
Nothing wrong with that, is there?

They didn't give that as their reason for the boycott.

There is no black caucus in the Senate. I think it is shameful and unAmerican that there is one in the House. So the core of boycotting House members will be most or all of the black caucus plus others who choose to stand with them. And I find that about as repulsive and shameful and deplorable as it gets.

For the last 6 years plus, there has been a Freedom caucus within the GOP house that has prevented Speakers Boehner and Ryan from getting 218 votes out of the GOP caucus, using the 'Hastert rule'.

trump's use of the bully pulpit on Twitter, as he did to stop the house from gutting ethics oversight two weeks ago could help Ryan, along with Pence's connections to the House.

Let's hope the GOP civil war within the house and between the house and senate is over .

That's right... they said he was "illegitimate"! Well, it's hard to argue with that.
Still doesn't mean "they intended for him to crash and burn". They didn't give that as their reason either.

That's just silly.

You know nothing about me, so you can keep that BS nonsense to yourself.

What gives you the idea you know how black communities can best be served?
No deflections accepted.

I know killing each other would serve that community , and I know all I need to by your response .

C'mon... you wanted to open your mouth and share your advice for black people before...

What me and my friends talk about you wouldn't understand . Why are you so opposed to stopping blacks from killing blacks ?

They didn't give that as their reason for the boycott.

They made their decision soon after being briefed by the intelligence agencies. They were enraged because they could not repeat confidential info.

They made a stupid decision for a lot of reasons, whether those be out of respect to the new president or the poor political optics to most of the Nation .

I know killing each other would serve that community , and I know all I need to by your response .

How would "killing each other" serve the black community, Socrates?
That's a very hateful statement.

As I understand it, 70 reps are boycotting, but no senators.

I did hear that all 70 reps are assured re-elected ion as long as they win their primaries. I'm guessing, then, that, for them, this is campaigning.

Anyhow, why no senators boycotting?

Look at who skipped, and then ask yourself how some of these morons got to DC to begin with.

What me and my friends talk about you wouldn't understand . Why are you so opposed to stopping blacks from killing blacks ?

Did you see him say those exact words that he is "opposed to stopping blacks from killing blacks"?

You should be ashamed of yerself for saying that.

Do you think trump and his trumpistanis are dancing on the graves of dead black children ?

Look at who skipped, and then ask yourself how some of these morons got to DC to begin with.

What about "taking a look at those who skipped"? Get it off yer mind and on paper.

Why do you think zero DEM senators skipped? The thread title !

I don't have to "ask myself" because I already know...

They each won by winning a majority of the vote cast for their position.
Unlike your Dear Leader Drumpf.

Don't bother. That dude has no idea what he is talking about.
He actually said, "I know killing each other would serve that community"

What does that suggest to you about his beliefs?

I know what the title thread said, and it was in reference as to why zero senators skipped, while a X amount of congressmen did.

My answer was inline with the thread, and your answer was the usual idiotic response. :rofl

What are you trying to say about those who skipped the inauguration?

Would you have preferred they get booed by trump's storm troopers as Clinton and Schumer were?

Why do you think ZERO Democratic Senators didn't skip trump's 1939 nationalistic speech ?

My post was inline with the Op's thread.

Your hyperbole is just................................... hyperbole!

Then you better get ready to go all in because the last man who gave such a national pride, national unity, global isolationist speech that catered to the frustrations of the middle-class and condemned the broken promises and cronyism of its nation's government and political system was the man in the video below. But before you let cynicism take hold, I urge you to listen to (or read) Trump's inaugural address again and then watch the below video in full and see if you can spot the similarities. Believe me, there are many! So much so, you were right to cringe.
