Interesting question. Let's unpack this a bit.
COINTELPRO is a distant memory.
Unless you operate outside the US, most of the intelligence community involved in the Russia allegations, and the CIA in particular, doesn't pay attention to you.
I haven't heard much about the FBI massively violating anyone's rights lately. Did I forget something?
The most egregious violator of US citizen rights these days is most likely the NSA. Which is saying very little about the Russia allegations.
Trump is picking fights with the intelligence community. But if you think he's going to weaken the surveillance state, then you will be sorely disappointed. If anything, he is likely to ramp it up significantly, and his preference is to send suspected terrorists to Gitmo to get waterboarded.
There is no doubt that Trump cited Assange as an authority. He certainly hasn't blasted Assange as an anti-American rapist any time in the last few years.
Putin is one of the people who is destabilizing the world. He's responsible for the Russian invasion of Chechnya, as well as supporting a brutal strongman (Kadyrov). He attacked Georgia. He invaded Crimea. He's destabilizing Ukraine. He's almost certainly doing the same to other former Soviet republics. He almost certainly gave the order to poison one of his critics with plutonium, while in London (Litvinenko). It's highly plausible he's had other critics and critical journalists murdered in Russia itself. And of course, he's propping up Assad in Syria (another brutal strongman) mostly while attacking US-supported rebels.
Equally important:
The world is NOT on fire. It really isn't. For the first time in 60 years, there are no wars in the Western Hemisphere. (None!) The number of wars, and number of people killed in wars, has dropped precipitously since 1991. Most military conflicts today are intrastate (civil wars), which while of course not being good, also means that those wars are far less likely to spill over into other nations. The number of genocides has dropped precipitously. Education is up. Internet usage is up. Cell phone usage is routine, even in the poorest of nations.
You're suffering from deep misperceptions about the world. Perhaps you should ask yourself why?
