Curious that the "temporary" SS withgolding tax break did not count, or unemploment insurance extensions, or perhaps the targeted TARP/stimulus funds. Did the over $5 trillion in gov't borrowing not get spent? Vote buying by incumbents does not need to come from "outside" private groups as they can allocate current and even future tax money to accomplish their goals. It is always claimed that tax breaks for "the rich" and corporations are contributing to the defict/debt but that nearly all else is somehow required for "investment" in our country. Be very careful when you calculate just what federal gov't spending/borrowing is for "infrastructure" or "job creation" and what is simply vote buying pork.

Or the reverse - much gov't (taxpayer) cash got funneled into union pension funds both public and private.

depends how deep their influence really goes, as long as citizens united stands, the corruption will grow with each passing hour.
