No i'm not talking about the results of the election.

Those of you that follow this forum probably know by now that the Red states in general are more "takers" and the blue states are more "givers". With many exceptions such as Texas and New Mexico.

Is Your State A Net Giver or Taker of Federal Taxes? | The Big Picture

We also know Republicans want to, or at least pretend they want to shrink government and particularly welfare. While Democrats are more friendly to social programs.

So if you think about it. The givers are fighting as hard as they can to give more. The takers are saying no no no and are fighting as hard as they can to take less.

We Americans are such selfless people.

Many states AZ, FL & TX (and much more of the south) have a large population of retirees that did not reside in that state for most of their working years which skews the stats considerably.

Somebody has to pull tea party Alabamans out of their ignorance, knownothingism and prejudice. It's dirty work saving conservatives from own delusional ideology, but somebody has to do it.

I'm sure I'll have to come back to this thread and debunk this at some point. No way do I buy that southern states are "takers' while New Yorkers are "givers.". Can tell you right away that's a load of bs.

Yes, where have we heard this before? If the numbers don't support my political bias then there must be something wrong with the numbers! Thus ... Romney in a landslide.

Sorry, the facts are the facts. Blue states are net tax providers to the federal government, and red states net tax takers. There are few exception. Texas is on the cusp. But the real drivers of productivity, wealth and tax revenues are California, New York, New Jersey, Washington State, etc. The south is a wasteland.

If we give you ANOTHER link showing this, will you relent and accept the data, or do what most conservatives do, put your fingers in your ears and say na na na.

Right, name calling always works. Thats the way to bring the country together, insult them.

Actually it makes sense if you think about it (maybe it helps Im not GOP).

Look at it forgetting politics for a minute, the big givers are the rich urban states, bankers, tech industry, etc. Obviously they will be the big givers & the smaller givers will come from poorer rural states. The stats arent saying which party the givers & takers come from. Its not about politics, its about demographics.

It's amazing to me that here in DC we only get back $0.30 for every $1 we pay in federal taxes. (I'm assuming that doesn't include the budgets of various DC-based government agencies themselves.) Back in the day, DC used to be extremely poor and an economic basket case...but now it's one of the wealthiest areas in the country. The times they are a-changin'.

Times might be a changing, but I still don't want to go to places like Congress Heights during the day much less at night, we could use some tax money to clean up all that stuff.
