I was listening to Radio Left today to get the other side's perspective.
What they said was that due to the House being Republican, the president is not going to be able to do much on domestic issues. Aside from the damaging legislation that will go in to effect (Obamacare, Dodd Frank, etc) there won't be much new stuff.
They said that the president's primary focus will be on foreign issues. Specifically, the Arab/Israeli crisis, and attempting to negotiate a peace.
I'm no fan of Obama, but if he were able to accomplish THAT, he would even win me over.
Actually, for that type of mission, I think Obama is the perfect guy. If he can leverage his international popularity to gain a treaty of lasting peace between Israel and the Arab world, he'll have accomplished something nobody before him has been able to.
