I mentioned in another thread that my fiance and I went to the BMV to update our address last year and they supposedly updated our voters registration for us. When we checked online, we found we were not registered to vote at our address. One of my fiance's friends just informed us she could not vote because she also updated her address at the BMV and registered to vote, only to find out they failed to do so.
I sent this info to my local TV station and I'm hoping they launch an investigation. It's likely that hundreds, if not more, people found out today they were not registered to vote when they thought they had done so at the BMV.
For the record, I made my trip to the polls and cast my ballot.
Another alarming issue...in Indiana, if you were convicted of a felony and you served your sentence, your right to vote is restored. We talked to several people we know that are in this position and they were told they were not allowed to vote because they had a felony. This is absolutely terrible. I have no idea how many people have been told a lie like this. I would be extremely pissed if I was one of the people told that I couldn't vote and then find out that I can.
How would you feel on election day if you went to vote and found out you weren't registered when you thought you were?
