Conflicted

I

Inaer

Firstly, let me start off by saying that I really don't like either primary candidates.

I have been thinking for months that I would vote for Gary Johnson but recently I was introduced to the idea of counter voting, meaning you vote for who you believe to be the lesser of two evils. Also I was introduced to the Alternate vote and I do think that is how we should vote, but it isn't. I am stuck in a situation where I already know my vote will not count if I vote for a 3rd candidate because he will lose. But if I did vote for him then my vote is taken away from my second choice, the lesser of two evils, meaning that because of people like me the candidate I really don't want will most likely win because we are splitting the votes for the primary. I really believe this is a broken system so now I am conflicted about whether I should even vote. And then there's the electoral college, but I wont go there here.

I think that by not voting I'm giving my second choice a chance and not actually having to vote for him.

Vote for the candidate that YOU believe in.

I think every American citizen should exercise their RIGHT to VOTE regardless of their choice. Your 3rd party may not win the presidential election but if that is who you believe in then why not support him by voting?

Go to the polls. Even if you don't cast a Presidential vote, go to the polls and you will find your answer when you are staring at the screen.

Whatever. It's obvious going to the polls is too much for you.

From Gary Johnson

"5% of the popular vote ends the two-party abuse & allows Libertarian candidates equal ballot access"

Yeah, and he's full of ****e. The third party would have to top Perot (the first time) to even get a serious notice (almost 19%).

He's full of **** in that it allows ballot access....the true reason is...*cough* un-Libertarian for wanting to secure a higher % of the popular vote. It means more government money for whoever runs as Liberatrian.

I disagree. Perot did not have a party so it is not comparable IMHO.

Everytime I step into the voting booth, I fall in love with my country all over again. It's usually an emotional experience for me; especially during the presidential election.

How anyone can just say, "**** it, I ain't votin", will never cease to boggle my mind.

if you're stuck on who to vote for in terms of the presidency, at least research the other candidates on the ballot for various offices and cast votes for those you support, if any. Local/state/federal legislation elections are just as important as the presidency in some ways.

We disagree on just about everything apdst, but I'm thrilled that we agree on this.

Amen!

EDIT: I couldn't wait to vote and even though there was no election the year I turned 18, I went to the Registrar of Voter office and registered on my 18th birthday. LOL

He did indeed have a party - it was called the Reform Party. In 92 he ran under the Independent Party.

I completely agree.....I'm originally from Canada (never missed voting in an election) and while I was going through my immigration process here in the US there were 2 elections (2000 and 04) I was not eligible to vote in because I was not a citizen yet....it is frustrating to be a working tax payer with no right to vote.....I was finally able to vote in 08......it blows my mind how many Americans take for granted their Right to Vote.

I'm with you. I didn't vote 100% of my ballot because there were candidates running where neither was worthy of my vote. I did, at the end, vote for Romney even though my intention was to leave that section blank but the lies, avoidance and misdirection regarding Benghazi amplified my concerns over F&F and convinced me that it was more important to get Obama out of office than it was to stand on principles with which I disagree regarding Romney.

I left a few boxes unchecked on my ballot, mostly for the same reasons you did. I didn't like either candidate's policies or plans and decided to simply avoid voting for both.

System only works when you vote for the candidate you believe is best qualified for the job and who echoes best your political platform.

Just vote for Obama or you're a racist.

J/K ;)

Vote for the candidate that YOU believe in.

If we had a fair and open electoral system this is what every one should do, but the EC and popular convention stands in the way

I went through the same thing. Spent hours on voterscorecard.com going back and forth between Romney, Johnson and Paul. Was thinking of staying home. Writing-in Ron Paul is problematic because they do not total the write-in's separately where I live.
