To all my DP friends currently in the States, if you aren't voting due to a conscientious decision, fine. But if you aren't voting simply because you don't want to deal with the lines or it just seems inconvenient, consider this for a moment:

About 20 months ago I was living and working in Libya. I watched as unarmed people were gunned down in the streets of Tripoli simply for demanding the right to choose their own leaders. And then the next day and the day after they would return with their picket signs to be gunned down again.

So to my friends in the States, regardless of your political lean, get off your asses and vote.

Thank you.

It's amazing that there are still people dying for what we take for granted.

There are many things that are taken for granted in the US, but unfortunately, freedom IS NOT one of them.

We don't have it here; in the US, police can routinely arrest and detain anyone indefinitely without trial, cops can beat and arrest protesters and journalists for no reason at all, and the government can spy on anyone it wants without the need for warrants. Censorship is rampant with Internet companies threatened with legal actions if they don't censor/modify their services. Finally, there is no legitimate right to vote, since ballot access written by state legislatures plus media blackouts/govt. website takedown notices regularly curtail choice and free speech. The "vote", if you call it that, is merely a choice between two pre-selected candidates purchased by corporations.

There are many other free countries on Earth (i. e. Iceland, Switzerland, Finland) but we don't live there, and those countries won't open their doors to us.

So we're all stuck behind the Iron Curtain, where we're fed a daily dose of propoganda about why the US should be considered "free" simply because of the Super Bowl and the fact that it has marginally more rights per citizen than North Korea.

Amen to that. Voting is also defending our liberty. So if you say your a patriot PROVE IT VOTE
