How long will Election Day last in Ohio?

Funny how the 'insignificant' states like Iowa start the process and it may come down to Ohio to seal the deal.

Some complain about both coasts and their out of touch elites, I think most 'real' citizens prefer the President need at least some support from the must enshrined heartland. I for one take heart seeing some of the battle ground states don't touch salt water.

Could you imagine the attitude New Yorkers would have if their state decided the election? ;)

Hey! Wassup with hating on New York?

But I take your meaning -- if California were most important, Dennis Kucinich would be president.

i hope that we're not waiting through late November for them to get around to counting provisional ballots.

Apparently, here in Ohio if you were regarded as casting a provisional ballot, you have ten days to approach the county board of elections and provide proof of citizenship or address or whatever cast doubt on your ballot on election day.

If you don't remedy this, apparently your vote is discarded. This is expected to yield fertile grounds for litigation.

They don't even open the provisional ballots for 16 days, but you are correct about the 10-day window for provisional ballots cast where your ID/address/citizenship was questioned.

That´s the fault of your constitution and how your elections are run.

Look at the bright side.. if Obama takes Virginia before Ohio is called, then Ohio wont matter as much :)

He won't though.

Just more chicken counting.

You'll excuse me if I wait for the fat lady.

What chicken counting. The article makes clear it could go either way.

Well we have the Football Hall of Fame and the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame...so we're kind of a big deal.

But, Ohio is important, because no Republican has won the Presidency without winning Ohio.

Only because you've talked people into believing you're important. You don't think Virginia is important? If you don't stop showing off I'm going to send one of our aircraft carriers up the river there and blow your asses up.

Listening to some radio talk show last night as I drove home, the host was saying that worst case we might not know who wins Ohio til Dec 11.

Dec 11 apparently being the date at which all ballot infos have to be in so that the electoral voting can take place on Dec 17.
Basically if I recall correctly his theory was that if the race was close (as in, a percentage point or two), there are enough provisional ballots out there to tip it one way or another, so they would have to wait to count all those…and then the lawyers might get involved and drag it out…

But I really have no idea.
