If you've already voted, how long did you wait?

Here in West Tennessee my Wife, Daughter and I voted last week. We waited about 20 minutes or so. My 3 year old grandson pushed the buttons for me!! It was my youngest Daughters first time casting a ballot. We never have long waits. Early or on Election Day.

I would guess that in the city (Memphis) they have some waits as the population is much higher. That of course is an attempt by the Republicans to win the city vote!! lol

It's amazing how efficient Republican governors seem to be at running polling stations in states that they know they are going to win.

Saturday or Sunday is a day off for most people. Tuesday is a work day. That would be a concern for me. Plus, a lot of people like to be home watching the election coverage rather than standing in line.

Perhaps. The more people who stand in line for early voting the fewer stand in line on election day which ultimately favors the GOP and their little old ladies. Have at it.

I voted in Miami and waited in line a little over two hours. Some people around here have waited six or more hours. It's an absolute travesty and a scandal that Republicans all across this country are doing everything possible to make it more difficult for people to vote.

Don't Republicans have to wait in those same lines? Florida, land of the Hanging Chad, needed massive voter overhaul. They still need a ton more.

Early voting should be done away with, period.

You never hear about long lines in the conservative panhandle, only in Broward and Dade. So no, in those cases the Republicans don't need to wait in the same lines. The voting machines are distributed to favor rural and small town voters.

I did a one county analysis a day or two ago (admittedly a small sample, but it was the only voting queue information I could find) and the polling stations that had lines averaging longer than 45 minutes went for Obama in '08 by about 55%-45%. The rest went for McCain by about 51%-49%

And yes, Florida does need a massive voter overhaul.

Yes, Republicans have to wait too, but I guess they have some consolation in knowing that making it harder to vote benefits their party.

They contact you here too if there's a signature concern but only after the election letting you know your ballot wasn't included.

Interesting sidenote. Here you can check online and verify they recieved your ballot and the signature was accepted.

I saw that the Dems have already filed a lawsuit to extend early voting because lines were so long in Florida.

Florida is a mess.... amazes me that they did not learn from 2000... sigh.

good, voter suppression is treason and should be punished as such, i hope the lawsuits rain.

I voted. Took more or less about 10 minutes. One of the machines was held up as they frantically searched for someone who forgot to hit the review your vote/cast your ballot screens as they were not allowed to do that for them after they walked away. Obama won my area last time and the wait was 45-60 minutes and the area was covered in Obama signs. Today they were all GOP signs. Not a single one for Obama, and the lines were way shorter. Since I am in a toss up states, that does not bode well for the President IMHO.

I was going to vote before work, but there was a pretty good line. I wanted to get in on time, so I left. I'll go back later. I didn't necessarily think I'd get it done this morning, polls opened at 7, work starts at 8.

I ran into my wife there. She was a few spots behind me in line after taking the kids to school.

Which state?

I voted this morning. I live in a small town, so there was no wait.

If you live in Florida and are forced to wait in long lines, simply tell the official at the polling place that you're a lifelong Republican and can't wait to vote for Romney.

At this point, you'll be expedited to the front of the line, and after 1 min., be free to cast your ballot for anyone you wish. :)

Gainesville, FL.

20 minutes, I'd say.

But I went to a polling station out west. There was one in the middle of town. I'm willing to bet that one had a longer line.

Gainesville, that's in Florida right? Only 20 minutes? Someone was just complaining that Republican governors were making it difficult for people to vote. :lamo

Governor Scott responds to claims early voting should've been extended

I live in a town of about 25,000...give or take. My polling place is at the school about a block away. I took a leisurley walk, entered the building, found the room, checked in, voted, and walked back home. No lines.

Please tell me you did it in your pajamas...

Ohio will be called for Romney by 9pm.

They just went back to the polling station in Dade County, Florida... you have to wait 3 and half to 4 hours in line now... but at least according to the reporter it is going "smooth" with very few hickups... other than the 4 freaking hours you have to stand in line. The food lines of the old east Germany were shorter!

Early voting equals extended/extra time to vote.
In Florida's case, that was seven EXTRA days, 7 am to 7 pm, to go to a polling station and vote,
Unlike today, when a voter only has one location where he/she can vote,
early voting allowed voters to use multiple locations, which was great'''

Maybe those who are complaining about the long lines, and being cut off, should have planned better or maybe they shouldn't have waited until the last day............. My family and I, voted last Friday,
the waiting line was approx. 45 mins. even tho the lines were out to the street.
I don't understand why people want to wait till Election day, to Vote most already know who they are voting for,

Voted this morning just before lunch. It was a wasted vote because I live in one of the redist of red states, but it took about 20 minutes. 10 minutes later the voting station was jammed.
