"Star Wars" sold in fear of the looming Obama tax increases

Greedo did not shoot first.

Damn it. I know the name "Greedo," but I can't exactly place the reference.

...which was actually Episode 4, but was released first, so it was Episode 1, unless you go by the book, which means it really wasn't an episode, but a chapter.....

Oh, never mind.

Well, the Phantom Menace was awesome.

Star Wars isn't Star Wars without George Lucas. I am sure the next episodes will be entertaining, mostly because they will pander to the Disney crowd.

Are there going to be more episodes, or remakes of IV, V, and VI? If there are going to be more without George Lucas's influence then meh, it's probably not worth it. Wouldn't feel the same.

MUST.... NOT....FLAME........

Yeah, I know.. this has to be sarcasm.. but dear god. When that Jar Jar character first popped onto the big screen.. Meso annnooooyying! The trauma. Oh, and lets kill off the best character of the first three movies.

And lets not forget what Lucas did to Indy.... Oh sure, aliens, why not?

Jar-Jar was annoying, I'll give you that. Do you mean Darth Maul being the most interesting character being killed off? He's what made Phantom Menace so interesting.

AGREED on theIndian Jones stuff. And him surviving a nuclear blast in a freaking refrigerator??? WTF!

That damn Jar-Jar and his people ruined Star Wars Episode I IMO. I wanted those characters to hurry up and die as quickly as possible. I would have rather listened to that ****ing muppet yoda say things like "Tickle my ass you will" rather than watch Episode I again with those idiotic creatures.

Yes, I have an insane hatred for Jar-Jar and his people.

Eh, it didn't ruint it. Qui-Gon Gin, Darth Maul, and the rest of the intrigue made up for it. The pod-racing, the navigation through the Gun-gan underwater depths, and the battle with the Trade Federation was absolutely exciting.

Even this liberal wacko is running for the hills in case Obama gets re-elected.

If this tax increase isn't averted, prepare for a massive shift in the markets in December, and an oncoming recession that will make 2008 look like a bad day.

Many small business owners are looking to sell quickly to avoid the capital gains increase and the oncoming Obamacare taxes.

The solution? Mitt Romney.

Snort! Bwaahaahaa!!!

You can't seriously be over 12 y/o and believe this?

Really?

At least George Steinbrenner avoided taxes the honorable way.

So, you didn't think these guys belonged?

Maybe. But Jar-Jar Binks? Metachlorians? The dialogue at the lava lake? General Grevious? The Wooden Princess Padame and the totality of the dialogue between her and Anakin? And on and on...

Feels more like retirement/estate planning.

I honestly enjoyed 1-3. They were a different style than 4-6, but I still enjoyed it. And I didn't mind Jar-jar, sure in hindsight I can see how he's annoying, but when I first saw it I was immersed into the characters.

Regardless if Romney takes office or not, the tax increase will still go into effect in January. The man can't possibly repeal everything the same day he takes office. And his 5 point plan will not take immediate effect either. Get real and stop thinking everything is going to be ok instantly, if he takes office. With all of his claims to help the economy, we won't see any results until his 3rd or 4th year in office. Looking at it from the opposing view, we won't see any negative results until the same time frame.

I give George Lucas for creating Star Wars. And I hate him for ****ing up Star Wars. As far as the tax stuff, if the tax cuts expire they go back to Clinton levels. And we all know how terrible the economy was then. No, the sky won't fall.

So some obnoxious media pundit makes a remark about someone's intentions and it's being accepted as the truth now?

AFAICT, the article reports a guess of someone with no first-hand knowledge of the situation. Idk about you, but I'd be hesitant to pay it much heed.

Let me get this straight. this really rich guy who can pretty much do anything he wants, a person who has used his epic movie franchise to poke fun at republicans even though it harmed his profits and reputation, a man who sold the rights of a completed story that has already been done and no remake will ever have the same following for billions of dollars is going to be concerned with losing a little bit of money on taxes? Have you seen the phantom menace? For the time it was released it could have been a political ad.

i just get the idea that a person with the fan following of lucas, the money he already has, and the insane amount he sold the rights for could really not care less about a few percentage points. What you are saying is he is worried about being insanely wealthy with tons of options and insanely wealthy with tons of options. Lucas is not Mittens. I don't think money is the sole guiding force in his life. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

basically what i am saying is way to impose your greedy immoral values on someone else, but that is just your feelings.

No man George Freaking Lucas is completely losing his mind about a three percent increase on his marginal tax rate. My God man, that would reduce his net worth from like 80 bajillion to 79 bajillion!

LOL...ahhh there is no limit to all this...

So George Lucus's charitable giving is moral and nobody's business but Romney's is tax evasion and/or fraud? Perhaps we should just create Red Money and Blue Money and see which one is worth more in ten years?
